Ah, brings back memories of faults on the D3, I got quite adept at clearing them on the hoof. Plus doing rolling shutdowns/restarts when required.
Happy days as I was usually off on a jolly somewhere remote and distant.

Yes, I have warned my missus that she may need to step up her co-driving game. 😂

Thanks Steve. I’ll see what the Autel turns up and how we go on the way down from Oban. 👍

Off topic sort of, but we had a fantastic week on Barra a few years ago. We flew in from Glasgow and the plane landed on the beach. One of life’s bucket list tick boxes!
Stayed in Castlebay, had amazing weather. Mingulay boat trip was a highlight.

Yes, it is spectacular. Our first trip, but family and friends have been coming for years. We’re at the very northern tip, so I’ve been riding past the airport every day on my morning constitutional.
Very refreshing lack of anything but beautiful beaches, crystal clear water, mountains, sheep and cows.

OK, Autel scanner arrived this afternoon, and it looks like it is indeed the manifold that is the culprit here.
Error code P006A-00: PCM. Manifold absolute pressure - mass or volume air flow correlation
I cleared the codes, then went for a drive to see how long it would take to come back. Once up to temp, it was about 10 mins later. Stopped, cleared it again, and then tried to make it come back. Slightly challenging to get the revs up in a place where it's all single-track roads and 50 feels really really fast. It did not come back.
Tomorrow I'll take another look at the engine and see if I can spot any cracks. Found a thread with some good pics of the potential areas here. Clearly, there are no repair facilities here on the island, and the reality is, I need to get it home for that.
So, how likely is it to cause long term damage if I drive it a few hundred miles with a cracked manifold? Should I be planning for a recovery? Or is it just going to be a pain in the , but will get us there eventually?
And who the hell thought it would be a good idea to make such a crucial part out of plastic?

Have you checked the plastic elbow at the front of the engine. Mine partly popped-off and just made a mess but it could come apart more and result in pressure drops..

it couldn't be just the map sensor needing a clean could it .if it is a cracked manifold could a get you home repair be carried out using a silicone sealer or araldite rapid .i dont think i would fancy a drive from Orkney to Teesside in the back of a recovery truck. mind they usually relay the vehicle now and give you a hire car ( it took a week to get my rib back from Clachtol in the highlands when a wheel fell off the trailer )

Could be. Unfortunately my holiday toolkit is more bike than car focused, and doesn’t have a torx set. I’ll have another look at the manifolds today and then pick up a torx set in Oban tomorrow once we are off the ferry.

No problem driving with a cracked manifold. You won’t damage anything.
Mine was nothing like those pictures on the aulro forum. Mine was a tiny split that opened up a little under load. You couldn’t see it. Only clue was a small bit of oil mist around the near side manifold.
Have you tried clearing on the move? It made life a lot easier. Also drive like you have an egg under the accelerator pedal.
