If the crane came with that wiring, and its puka, you may as well leave it.
Unless you consider it undersized.
What I don't understand is where you are going to store that controller to stop it getting wet or vandalised. You could put another aderson plug by the motor, and store the yellow thing in your disco.
I'm sure you have worked it out though

The whole top arm of the crane is removable with a pin. Which can be put in the boot of the car when not in use. Then clipped on and plugged in when in use.
So there would be just the base bolted to the trailer. At a height that can be under cover and strapped down safe and dry.
... so i should run 35mm2 under the trailer from hitch to the crane (7m total live and earth). Then a 2nd 400 amp Anderson plug under the crane... Then a 400amp Anderson plug to replace the one on the yellow remote cable setup. So would be a 10mm2 cable in to a 400amp anderson plug?Disco 3 SE Manual 2005 V6 2.7

To make things easy, maybe
Doesn't that cable you have now reach ?
Plug that in to the rear of the disco.
Stand at the back of the disco and operate the yellow remote. Wouldn't that reach ?
Save putting unnecessary wires on the trailer ?
Otherwise ignore me and do as you suggest

They wouldn’t reach to the Anderson plug on the car. And the remotes plug is 50 amp grey Anderson. Whereas the car is 400amp blue Anderson (different sizes).
I got the extra length of 35mm2 as I thought that was recommended generally instead of the original 10mm2.
Concluding, I will wire 35mm2 from hitch to the base of the crane (7m total live and earth). Then put a 400amp Anderson on the 10mm2 cabling then run that from base up to winch and remote.
So would be a 35mm2 run to crane base. Then 10mm2 from base to winch. Joined with a 400amp Anderson.
Then do fuse as above test with a 100amp first and go upwards if it struggles to lift 500kg.Disco 3 SE Manual 2005 V6 2.7

Hi all just updating on this.
Worked today just fine. About the same power as previous installation I think.
Checked cables when unplugged and nothing was hot! Just the winch motor was warm.
I’ll do a video of the setup tomorrow sure it will come in use
Thanks again!!!Disco 3 SE Manual 2005 V6 2.7
