Warranty - advice, recommendations
Hi
I’ve just bought my first Land Rover - 2010 D4 HSE with 83000 miles and fsh. It came with a 6 month warranty ( Warranty First) which is pretty basic. However, I was considering taking out a better more comprehensive warranty and wondered if anybody had recommendations.
Many thanks

Hi and welcome
have a go with the "Search" button, it sits higher up the page ^ above the rolling banner and below the orange DISCO3 sign.
but
make a cup of tea and have a pack of biscuits at the ready first, there will be a few pages to read

Warranty direct, if you are willing to get your hands dirty then just the core package is enough to cover engine and transmission, but you can add what you want for your needs and budgetJoined the BMWX5 45e group

I’ve heard a rumour that WD have hiked their prices for FFRR’s. Not sure if that’s correct or applicable to D3/4’s.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Thanks for the info. I’ve looked at Warranty Direct. £110 per month for 10 months for the basic cover and capped labour. Is it worth extending that do you think, i.e. uncapped labour, electrics and suspension? Starts to get expensive very quickly!

The eternal question.... do you buy a comprehensive warranty or do you stash money away each month and hope the biggest bills avoid you.
I am pretty sure WD won't take on a car with more than 100k miles, I maybe wrong so you might be best going for a three year warranty that will see you over that limit.
Choice is a personal one, can you afford not to have a warranty?

It does! Mine was £210 for 10 months for everything. Core, CorePlus, Safety,Emmissions & Multimedia and uncapped labour. 3 Year policy.
Eyewatering, but compared to "others" that I read would worm out of payment, it was about right. Depends on how long you are going to keep the car and what you can afford.
I called a few indi garages before I chose the policy and asked about their labour rate and their experiences of warranty companies. WD appeard to be at the top.
Like all policies, only worth it when you need it and have it!
One thing to consider when choosing is that WD is an insurace based product so you can take it to the ombudsman if the decision in wrong/unfair.In today's world, if you contribute something, you don't contribute enough. If you contribute nothing, you receive everything.

Just spoken to my local Land Rover specialist who slated Warranty Direct, wriggle out of everything they said. They recommended the AA but I don’t think they will cover me directly. I think I might just save regularly for repair bills and hope nothing catastrophic happens. Thanks for all your advice though.
