Maybe the shells then.

I think a mad farmer managed to do that with the engine in

Didn’t fix his noise though

if the motor is still running its definitely not the tensioner mount failure.

In case of a spun mainbearing who blocked the oil passage to one of the big-end, the most common reason for crankshaft damage in the D3 model, it makes no sense to do “just” the crank...

Fitment of these bearings relies on tension... since (likely) one has spun, it scraped metal away, so the possibility to apply the needed tension again is gone forever....

If you have seen it, you will understand...
So you will need (probably) a new crankcase AND crankshaft (although the latter can be refurbished)

I have been where you are... just did 100mls with it, bang.... from “good” till ratlle in a split second....
Could run it, but sounded bad...
Had the same ideas.... as i have done that with good results on other brand engines in the past..
BUT decided to do a proper job...... now i know, there is only one way.......

So save you the effort in trying only the crankshaft from underneath you will end up with a bad engine anyway.......atleast that is what i expect...
 Best regards
Harold

Thank you for the advice. My local area in currently in lockdown as soon as it’s lifted I will be getting the truck transported over to my fathers place where we have more room to work on it. Looks like I’ll be looking for a new engine.
