95% of people on this forum, who are not uneducated when it comes to cars, really struggle to get these glow plugs out. If they break it is a time consuming world of pain! In other words the chances of them just spinning out is so low that if they do you should buy a lottery ticket!

You also have to take into account that people only post when they have problems.
You may find that most people have no issues. I have only ever removed glow plugs from D4's and they have all come straight out with no struggle at all buti dont know if there something different on the D3's that causes them to sieze

And some difference between EU3 and EU4

EU3, you can almost guarantee they are seized
EU4, you can almost guarantee they will come out fine

Heads are the same, plugs are the same, only difference is fuelling system...

Do you think it would be worth using a good quality injector cleaner a few weeks before to loosen up any carbon?

Changed mine there a few months ago. 4 were completely dead, 2 still working after 12 years. They all came out very easily. Just screwed straight out. EU4 engine. The hard part was removing the oil separator. Taking the cap off it made it much easier. The other issue was the plastic wiring conduit disintegrated into a thousand pieces on both glow plug looms. So having some 7mm ID conduit might come in handy.
