Sorry to contradict you but you can insure more than once but you will only get a payout on one, it's got a fancy word that slips my memory and is included in all policies in small print.
You cannot insure someone else's vehicle or property. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

You can insure a car you don’t own. However, you need to let your insurance provider know that you’re not the owner or registered keeper of the vehicle.
It's not common, but you can also insure someone else's property, provided that you have an 'insurable interest' in the property. Meaning that you would incur a financial loss if the property (or contents) were to be damaged, lost or destroyed.

Agree..........I was meaning the principle of double insuring for gain. i.e the car is worth 10k, its stolen, thats 10k from this policy and 10k from that policy...your loss has already been covered so you cant claim again.

I'm shocked
Renewal through Admiral multi is £1 cheaper than last year.
2008 D3, 2020 Leon Cupra 290, and house cover
Done a search I can save £100 on Cupra but the D3 is three times what Admiral want so looks like I'll stay where I am,
Just need to sort breakdown cover out, any recommenadtions

Oddly revisited it, dropped 1000miles, added £100 and it came out at £714

Just had my renewal through with RAC.
It's dropped £45 to £288. I couldn't believe it, not sure I'll bother shopping around at that price Today is the oldest you've been and the youngest you'll ever be again.

I had an automated renewal quote from the meerkats come through the other day. It was from when i was looking at getting a T5 Transporter from 2 years ago.
I eventually got a T32 T5 180bhp 2.5 Sportline, but the quote was for a T28 84bhp 2.0TDI so must have just been me checking on insurance on a particular van.
When i had the Sportline i paid sub £500, the quote (for the lesser powered T28) was just a few quid under £1600 so dread to think what the sportline would have been if I still had it.
When you look at the reasons the insurance industry is spouting as the reasons for the ridiculously high premiums currently they just dont add up properly. When you see 2 almost identical cars, both written off as cat S but 1 is really badly smashed up, engine hanging out etc and the other just has damaged plastic bumper and slightly dented wing how does that add up ??
Ive seen a rumour that insurance companies are now using AI to decide if a car is written off or not rather than getting an qualified insurance assessor to look at it. 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

A friend's Golf was side swiped whilst parked. The old boy left his details and she went to insurance. They wrote it off on the basis of a deep scratch along the side of both doors and the rear wing - not economically viable to repair! She got her settlement and then bought it back from them and pocketed the difference (which was quite a nice sum). She'll run it 'til it dies anyway so the fact that it's got a Cat identifier isn't an issue for her. Madness, really.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Crazy Variations !
I have been waiting for my renewal on my D4 to arrive, I was paying £550 a year on a fixed 3 x year deal via SAGA (I am retired with 15 years No Claim) - it came and they wanted £860 for same deal, when queried they cited thefts of Land Rovers, I pointed out that mine was now 12 years old and hardly fitted criteria - they offered a £40 discount as a valued customer !
Hastings wanted £1,160
Got a policy with Tesco via Go Compare for £498 - so cheaper than last year and cover is better including RAC breakdown and with a much lower excess !
Go Figure ....
Variations of over double - £498 via £860 to £1,160
My old dad always said that there is no such thing as cheap insurance and test is when you have to claim - I'm not so sure !

I had to change both the D4 and BMW insurance providers to stop massive price hikes this year.
Had been dreading the motorhome insurance renewal. It has just arrived and is down by over £150.
Oh to be able to understand the metrics / models the insurance companies are using to get their prices set!!Disco 4

Just got my renewal notice for next month. £573.24 with LV, the usual fully comprehensive, full no claims with protection and £450 excess.
£429.12 last year.
Phoned up and got a reduction to £515 just for asking. It annoys me that they do this, but there you are.
Quick scan, but I don’t think I’ll better the price unfortunately but Tesco Gold insurance came in close.
