Pre-reg means second hand, doesn't it? So far as the V5 will show anyway.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

A pre-reg is a new vehicle purchased by the dealer and registered in their name, meaning that the dealer's name is the first on the registration document.
In my experience they usually have between 5 & 30 miles on the clock.

How many backsides of stroke victims have you looked at?
I've had mine two years and the only criticism I come across is here ...mainly from people who would never buy one because they can't afford it or justify their choices by driving something that's 3 years old+ because they can't get over it.

DG, some of us are much happier letting people like your good self take the silly-big hit of depreciation on new cars. We then buy the same car for half the price, or less, after you've taken the hit. 8)Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Have they shipped then Down Under yet? I don’t think I’ve seen one in WA in the last month.

Fitted with the big wheels I think they look great... it’s the lesser models that look sh:te...
The biggest issue is the huge rise in cost.. when I bought a D4 Hse Lux it was £55k. To buy the comparable D5 Lux with similar levels is now £80k plus...which is now right amongst RRS and newish FFRR money....
The choice between a new D5 or an 8 month old 5.0s RRS was a no brainer...I personally think McGovern starting believing his own ....
If they were made cheaper I think they would probably fly out the door again .... and at that money they are playing with some proper machinery from rival manufacturers...which is why so many of the old forum members have made the jump across...

If you thing the D5 is expensive, I spec’ed up a Deafner to a mildly comfy sort and that was over £80k.

I took out the fire ash early this morning and in my pre-caffeine state I’d temporarily forgotten about the D5. I got quite a shock when confronted by the rear end. It really isn’t pleasing on the eye.
I’ve got an approx 250 mile journey to do in it today. I’ll be interested to see how the new 306bhp (?) Sd6 performs. First impressions over the 50 miles I’ve done so far have been good. The last D5 I had was the most powerful of the four pot diesels, which in fairness went much better than I’d expected. Although over the 3-4 days I had it I only took one passenger on a short journey. Fully laden it might not have been as impressive.
I’m also looking forward to seeing how I find the HUD. First impressions were good, but that I’d probably not pay for it.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

£30k will get you into a used D5, albeit a 4pot if you want low(ish) mileage. The finance payments on that amount should be affordable to most.
There’s nothing to “get over”. Either you like it and buy one, buy something else or keep what you’ve got. If I did a lot less mileage I’d have kept my D4 Landmark.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

A friend has recently bought a 4 year old FFRR 4.4SDV8 Autobiography with 60k miles on it for £38k. Sure, it's second hand but the mileage isn't silly, he doesn't do massive mileage himself, and the thing is in top condition from what I could see. That's a heck of a lot of vehicle for that money, and I'd rather spend £38k on one of those than on a second hand D5 that's for sure.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

LT, you've not explained why you've got this thing - or did I miss that?
