And greetings from a very wet & chilly Moscow. It’s been raining & sleeting all day, totally yuck weather! This was the general scene most of the day when out doors.

And the hotel put a Union Flag up just for us, well prob us as the hotel is pretty empty. It looks a bit sad. Sad

We took the Metro to the Museum of Cosmonauts (or something like that), well it was interesting, warm & dry.

We found where the Wrong Trousers ended up!

And shouldn’t these chaps we warming themselves off the heat shield?

Cute moon rover, Lunerhod 1 (or something like that). I think that’s about as far as the Soviets got re going to the moon.

And a 3 person Soyuz capsule. You wouldn’t want to be my size and claustrophobic!

Then out into the sleet & rain.

Lenin still looking for some revolutionary moves from the peeps. No chance today.

And a few aviation exhibits up at the other end of the park.

And the Soviet version of the Shuttle. Not sure if it’s just a mock-up but the real one is in a park somewhere, plus a couple half built in an abandoned factory.

By this time getting cold & grumpy, heading back to the Metro passed a rather busy looking cafe so dived in. Excellent soup & Cornish-ish pasties. Really warmed things up.

Back in hotel, nice and warm with coats hanging over the bath drip drying. Should be nicer weather tomorrow to hike to Red Sq. Thumbs Up

A few pics from around Red Square & The Kremlin.

Our first view of St Basil’s from the bridge across the Moscow River.

Some gold domes in the other direction.

St Basil’s.

At first Red Sq was closed off with what looks like preparations for some sort of harvest festival. Lots of guards on the barriers. They had their work cut out keeping the groups of Chinese tourists at bay. And they were way undermanned!

We took the shortcut through the GUM department store/Harrods of Moscow, credit card stayed firmly in wallet. Lots of peeps also using it as a shortcut, not a lot of peeps buying.

A view the Sq from the other side, still shut off.

Then round to Alexander park and the memorial to the sacrifices of WW2. The guards were motionless apart from their eyeballs, they were watching everyone.

One of the streets had a whole row of tractors, which could be sat on/in by little ‘uns of all ages. This was the cutest. Thumbs Up

Once we’d had a bit more wandering, we found that you could now get into Red Sq at certain security screening points so we headed in. Obligatory pano shot of the Kremlin and shot of Lenin’s Mausoleum. It was closed today, we’ll see if we want to go tomorrow but it either means leaving our bags in the hotel or somewhere there, not exactly ideal.

Then back to hotel. Feet were sore and we decided to have a half day and a bit of slobbing for the afternoon. Or train to Beijing is at 23:55 tomorrow, we’ll past our bedtime. It’s going to be a long day, at least we don’t need to be out of the hotel until 2pm. Then 10 hours until the train leaves. We’ve no idea when we’ll be able to board the train, google was unless, but at least there’s a supermarket near bye for supplies on the train. Thumbs Up
