Avoid theft of D3 & D4 rear lights
Hello one and all, I'm quite new around here.
Anyway, after reading some posts about people having their RRS rear lights stolen (without having to open the boot), I thought I would investigate my D4 to see if the story is the same.
Well, indeed it is. I could make a nice sideline selling D4.5 lights on eBay.
Anyway, to combat the problem, I have found that number plate securirty screws are a good match and, when teamed with the black caps, look totally factory. Just don't forget to keep the correct screwdriver head somwhere in the car, in case you need to change a bulb.
Not totally foolproof, but one less thing to worry about and less than £6.
I bought two packs of these (no affiliation, etc etc) and they were delivered the next day. 2 minute job to fit.

ISTR from stripping down Dark Bluie you could take the rear lights out with the lower tailgate closed (don’t ask, I was knackered and stressed) but not the top tailgate unless you really butchered the lights.
I can’t check myself as I’m several thousand miles away and no longer have a car to test.

With the right tool, you can do it without any damage. I was quite astonished, not only at the panel gap, but also the lack of thought that went into the design!
I had an L405 RR a couple of years ago and, if memory serves me correctly, they had a big rubber panel that covered the screws.

Oh no, my engine might have gone kaput, my towbar might have been stolen, my spare wheel might have been stolen now I’m learning that my front grill and rear lights might have gone too; I think I might need therapy to get over it. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Are we highlighting an issue that doesn't exist ? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
