Glow plug replacement - now booked in
Finally bit the bullet and booked her in for a full set of glow plugs. Dropping off this afternoon so they can get some magic juice in there and they'll be doing the work tomorrow. Nervous would be an understatement I'll keep you posted.

Daz,

One of the guys at Advanced Factors (site sponsor) recommended them and also later found out that my brother (a mechanic) subs work out to them.

Had mine changed earlier this year. All six of them came out, which is a miracle.
Good luck with yours.

Thanks!
No idea they were that expensive - best get mine figured out and working properly!formerly Disco3Ben
Miss Moneypit is booked in with my local indy for mid October for a new set before the cold sets in excluding the one that sits by the high pressure fuel line to try & keep cost within a sensible budget.
Given none work at the moment, anything should be an improvement

Update - and it's not good. Got a phone call to say they'd attempted the 4 'easy' ones and all 4 snapped. Agreed with them not to touch the more difficult pair. It seems they sub out the drilling operation and they're not available until next Monday. I'll post back when I know more.
That's not the best news parky63. But I guess it's not a total surprise. Be interested to here how the drilling goes. My man apparently made up a tool to drill if need be. Although I hope he wo t need it for many of them when it comes to d day.
We better have a cold winter this year to make all this worthwhile eh?

Nick, thanks for your thoughts. As you say, not the best result but one I had at least prepared myself for. Fingers crossed the man with the drill has a good day on Monday. I'll post back with an update.

Fit new glow plugs as the engine is far more responsive and economical when working properly. Running without working plugs is like having your engine remapped for worse performance.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
