Crass, patronising assumptions, like those above, really don't help.

Your "generalising" is your opinions. It's really not it all about you though

Definitely on your own there LT.
At somewhere in the £47-67,000 region, you’re going to have to make some serious compromises. After all, you can’t expect good looks and practicality within such a modest budget. Land Rover’s never managed to provide all of that for a penny less than £60,000 before.

You have to love it really, the thread started yesterday and is now 5 pages long!!
Mostly the same old stuff about why one is better than the other, I have changed my mind.......let's keep it open as it is obviously providing some sort of much needed therapy

@RedMerle
Price wise, the run out D4 Landmark was a relative bargain, at least compared to the full list price of the very similar HSE Luxury that it replaced.
I do prefer the twin turbo 3.0 in the D4 (especially the EU6), to that of the single turbo in the D5. I find it a smoother power delivery. That could be the mapping rather than the actually engine/turbo I suppose, but either way, the D5 delivery felt a bit more like the D3 used to. Slightly laggy, then woosh it takes off. Did you notice this on the D5 you've been driving early in the week?
I'll have a D5 for 2-3 days next month, so I can refresh my memory then. I don't know what engine it will have though.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

So if D5 threads would be banned, does that include this thread. Similarly if the branch falls in the forest and no-one hears it did it actually fall.

The D4, for all it's glory, is dead. For all of the individual preferences, it's styling, driving position, visibility, load space, and split tail gate will not be replicated in the form desired, ever again......the mourning for some will be perpetual.
Maybe have a word with Jim Ratcliffe and he can cobble something together for you

Of course, if you were up to speed then you would know that the D5 3.0 V6 has just been upgraded to 306bhp twin turbo

Must admit I found the D5 TD6 very hesitant at times. Hopefully the SD6 306hp for the 19MY is better.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

LT: It was an odd thing driving the V6 again. It was so similar to that in the D4, but it kept hunting between gears at slow speeds and any need for even medium acceleration was met with a pause, a downshift and then a surge of acceleration. To drive it nice and smoothly I needed to have a feather light right foot. It was almost reminiscent of (but not as bad as) the turbo lag in an early petrol turbo (Saab, anyone?).
I wondered if I’d just forgotten what they were like and then remembered finding exactly the same thing stepping out of the D4 SDV6 and into a FF TDV6 on a test drive. The torque curves are very similar on paper, but the drive just isn’t the same. Really curious, but certainly noticeable the very first time you pull out of a junction and merge into moving traffic.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Why did they wait, I wonder? Can you confirm how much it’s added to the price?

Yes, it is the same and it is £2.7k over the 2.0 240, which has been retuned down from 500Nm to 430Nm.
