No it’s not Rich there are sides and you are just as guilty coming over as baiting the D5 haters. At what point would you not buy a car? Wrong colour, wrong size, wrong interior, wrong price? Surely this is a personal thing, I could not have an Evoke the waist is too high and rear view too restricted, does it make it a bad car? To me it does, but not to others and we’re both right. A lot of the armchair critics do seem to have driven the D5 and if they haven’t liked it then that’s their opinion and it’s no more valid than yours and no less.
I have owned and driven some cars so the bar level is set low for me ...and I try to see the good in all
I'm not sure I've been baiting anyone by suggesting the D4 ...or any other vehicle is a bad motor though ...every vehicle has it's inherent good and bad points ...Rights to opinions are sacrosanct and I appreciate that for some it will never be the motor for them of course, but incessant negativity about the D5, mostly just for the hell of it, is beyond reason at times and therefore deserves a fulsome response.
They prefer it to the D4 (LR4 in yank-speak) and like many of the things that aren't popular hereabouts.
The reality is that LR weren't aiming the D5 at people for whom the D4 is the best thing since sliced bread. They were aiming it at Mr and Mrs "I want a big, comfy, 7 seat truck".Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Maybe it just seems they’ve been around that long! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄

Hi all,
Criticising here became "hate"! I keep often reading from two or three members in here : "you, the D5 haters, this and that..."
Has this "hate" been shown for any other model at the LR range before? If not, there must be a reason...
Personally, i don't hate the D5 at all. I just think it's a great design mistake. It may be selling better in the UK, but here, it's just a TOTAL flop...whatever the D5 hater's haters say.

So how many have sold 'here' vs the D4 ...I take it you have the numbers in order to make such a statement?
why close that part of the forum, after all it is a discovery this site talks about D3's and D4's so why not D5's as they get older you never know we might all start to learn a bit more about them and their issues or even how good they are.
so I say leave it there

Because it has it's own site and all the information is "building" up in there.
This sub-forum will be remembered for................................?

I am a new D5 L462 owner and was a D4 owner before that so am a member of this site and glad I am too.
I need to read about the moans and groans of the D5 naysayers as otherwise I wouldn't know what I am suppose to dislike.
As regards the criticism of the rear end, I drive looking forward so don't care what is behind me, once the dog is in the back that is !!
I have now got used to entering it having banged my head on the 'more back raked' screen.
I am not using most of the things that many buttons operate so obviously I don't need them, also I have no need of the arms but who cares, they stay back out of the way and will one day make a good conversation piece.
I do miss the large pocket on top of the dashboard and the large ones in the back but I now drive more 'Minimalistic' so can get used to it eventually.
The bag of cleaning kit that came with it is now used to carry the extra bits I would usually have in the large back pockets, the cleaning kit I gave to my neighbour who is cleaning his 'Dinky toy Kia' every week-end.
Leave the D5 on here, I have a RR Sport, (soon to dump and move to an F Pace) but I am a member of this forum and love it.In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Down and out's Velar
In UK - Dare not say on this Forum
Gone - Lots of Lode Lane vehicles.

Variety is the spice of life. Some peeps love the D5, some loath it, and every shade of grey in between. I don’t see why peeps can’t discuss something that’s not D3/4, ok just move the D5 bit to Off Topic, either Everything Else or Humour, Rants or Pointless.
Sorted.

^ agreed, I think it should be left*
Once the facelifted versions have come out and we can all afford one in a few years (as well as no D4's being on the road due to snapped cranks) we'll be able to make the transition to the D5 Forum gradually through these self-help pages

Technically it’s been around since 2014 I suppose.
I think this section should remain. It’s helpful for members on here who are thinking about coming out the closet but are not yet brave enough to jump over into the fiery pits of hell 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green
