Does this mean my 56 plate 7a vin needs the egr valves refitted? Or can I get away with just re fitting some pipes to make it look like they are there?1995 Discovery 1 300TDI

What EU reference would a MY 10 D4 with the earlier 245bhp engine be?
If it has the ‘optional’ DPF fitted, Euro 5. If not, Euro 4.

The link on the first post doesn't work for me.
I happily run around in my old Jazz with the EML on, emissions for the MOT were spot on so just dodgy oxygen sensor. It'll cost about half the value of the car to just make a light go out.
Luckily when I clear it the light doesnt come on for few runs so will just clear it in the MOT testers car park.

What about people who have bought thier Landy second hand and the previous owner has removed the EGR and the Cat (as I did on my previous D2) Many people would not even know what an EGR is. So MOT time comes where is your EGR madam / Sir ? whats an egr ? well its gonna cost you to have it replaced, so you pick the tab for something that is completely out of your control how can that ever be fair ? so we now go back to that dirty habit of ingesting exhaust gas into your engine

Hopefully the MOT testers won't be too bothered to look.

Ive found that there’s not many problems that an extra tenner can’t fix with MOT’s on the mainland......a Northern Irish test centre will be more awkward. You all should think yourselves lucky, worst case change your MOT garage

Or alternatively the good habit of reducing the amount of NO2 you pump into the atmosphere. ==================================

The simultaneous increase in particulate emissions is not such a good habit though. Indeed, it's a far worse habit in terms of local pollution.

Do we think the need for the EGR pipes to be present is for all engines or are Euro 4 too early and excluded? Thanks

Pipes will need to be present and visible for all cars. Any clearly missing will be a failMy D3 Build Thread

My EGR pipes are all still in situ and (touch wood) I've not had any issues - however I still plan to blank them but need to be mindful of the forthcoming changes.
I have decided that I am still going to blank but as everybody has suggested, I'm going to leave the pipes in place but blank at the base and remove butterfly etc above (making it visibly in tact)
Does anybody know if I can use the existing bolt length on the EGR flange?
Will the originals be long enough or will I need a slightly longer bolt?
Thanks

The government slaps all these extra taxes and regulations on us about pollution and environmental issues but still allows events like the international air tattoo at RAF Fairford and elsewhere every year despite the burning of millions of litres of aviation fuel. I like watching the Red Arrows as much as the next person but when they have finished a display the whole area is covered in red, white and blue smoke. How is this justified or even fair?????
