I think the McGovern factor is why this probable redesign is more likely than in days past. His team is not looking to keep traditional customers happy, they are looking for increased volume in the urban warrior and yummy mummy market. When you are looking to pull sales from BMW and alike the unfavourable comments about the D5's aesthetics are far more important than utility or practicality.

I saw one go the other way on the A30 on Bodmin moor yesterday. It had a few bicycles hanging off the back, with a trailer board (with a central plate) attached. A lot of the back was obscured.
It looked a little better for it

Have sat behind a few now and the rear end doesn't look so bad anymore. Sat behind a D4 yesterday and thought how old and clunky it looked. Strange really because 6 months ago the D4 was second only to the FFRR in the "nice bum" stakes.

LR accessory, had it a few years now. It's not as full as it used to be, tow ropes, Hi-Viz, torches etc stored under the boot floor.
