Cut the heads off M6 bolts and weld M8 nuts onto the studs?

Here's another option, buy a length of the 1/2 x 1/4, drill and tap to M6 at intervals than cut into pieces. You can bolt through you brackets and slide into the rail.
did they materialise ? are they as you expected ??
I now find myself in similar position ... bought a set of rails from Lidl and looking to make them fit D4. won't be able to go to the place I recommended for a good few weeks as things stand.
Don't need roofbars often so not fussed if they are no longer lockable when I'm done..
