Towbar Electrics .... anythingelse to do ?
I'm just about to fit a fixed towbar and genuine plug in LR electrics to my 56 reg GS but I read on another post something about needing to enable them. Is this something I need to do before I can tow and if so how do I do it ?
Thanks.

I think they only need enabling on later cars

I have a 57 plate GS and was told by an auto electrician that he had checked the car was "activated" when I told him i was planning to tow. He was fitting cruise control so was already in the ECU.
I think it's something to do with recognising when in reverse so your parking sensors don't pick up your load. Maybe something to do with the green tow symbol too on the dash.
But I'm not 100% as mine is a year later than yours. So might not be the same as previously stated.

What does enabling actually do ? The old post I read suggested that it needed done to stop the suspension height going wonky.... sods law cant find the post again

If you enable for towing it just disables the terrain response when towing you can still lift/lower via the height button though if you don't enable the suspension won't throw a wobbly Wanted D4s non runners pm for competitive price.

On my first D3 (Jan 2005) the vehicle dash lit up like a Christmas tree at times, (dropping into limp home etc) when the towing electrics fitted and not enabled . When enabled no more problems
