Business opportunity for someone here.

Has anyone here tried using FaceTime or WhatsApp video call to do a remote diagnosis or talk trough for members on here? There are probably loads of people on this fourm that would happily pay to video chat some of the more technically minded people here.
Just a thought, it could be a nice hobby/ part time job.

Judging by the amount of phone calls I get from those South of the border in need, maybe I should start charging for this Whistle

Some of them are hard work. Don't think I'd like to do it any more than I have to, even as a premium rate number Laughing

I can get you a number that charges customers high rates and you get a % of the call charge, so the longer you keep them on the phone, then the more you make !

ok, i will get my coat ! Thumbs Up

FaceTime is what the Mrs does first thing in the morning with her make up.

When she is in a mood, I use Whatsup? and normally get told it's something I've done. Whistle

https://www.acuityscheduling.com

I use this on my website to charge clients for telephone time. You could also use it on FaceTime/zoom/skype etc.

The idea is the client has a look at your website, clicks the service they want (30 minutes consultation with disco_mikey) they then choose a vacant slot and pay you by PayPal or credit card.

Dead easy to set up and use. Have a look at mine to see how it works. I don't use the pay function though, I invoice. https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=13039320

True. But my confidence has been dealt a blow. Was going to replace some blown bulbs on my parents' W203 merc coupe instrument cluster, even got the tool to get the cluster out. However that model has surface mounted LEDs and not bulbs so needs soldering skills and tech knowledge way beyond what I have. Merc want £834+VAT plus programing for a new cluster, on a car worth <£2k. To replace 2 blown "bulbs". Unbelievable. Rolling Eyes

Surface mount stuff is easy Del - the solder mask ensures that the part is pulled into place by the solder and surface tension. Nothing to it really.

I get my fair share of technical enquiries most days.

When I say beyond my skills I mean I've never soldered anything in my life, ever. Embarassed I was hoping for easy bulbs but that got changed in that model's facelft. Sad
