I've had some tense moments going through narrow gateways in the Lake District and on Exmoor. I honestly don't think I'd have made it through if the D3/4 had been 1-2 inches wider.

Break over is 27.5 in the D5 and D4 27.3
Departure D5 30 and D4 25.4
It's only the approach angle that's less D5 34 and D5 36.223.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green
LR website says 34, 27 (i.e. 126), 30. I have the D3 down as 37.2, 124.2 (i.e. 27.9), 29.6. Perhaps there is some poor rounding on LR's part. I think that when the rest of the xxxx models in store to be released by JLR get on the market, there will be a successor of the Defender with a more square and sturdy profile as the D5... It all moves upmarket, like the smaller cars all getting bigger... Present day Polo is the size of a 90-ties Golf... So all you need to do is sit back, wait for the new defender 7-seater and you'll have a D4 renaissance at a lower price as the D5...

To be fair, i remember laughing when i first saw the D3, that anyone would spend £30,000, on a glorified transit connect van, have come to love it now.
