I got the dynamic cover, so I'm interested to hear what they have to say and what they are willing to bring to the table for you regarding this matter.

Warranty wise paid out for mine no problem didn't even send an assessor out, unfortunately I'd only taken 4K cover as I didn't expect to be putting an engine in a car with 70k miles on and thought 4K would cover most other eventualities, how wrong was I.
JLR were shocking having told me there were no issues with 2007 oil pumps when I contacted them before the failure for reassurance, apparently there's only been one fail that they were aware of ........

Warranty Company wish to send out an engineer to 'check' (at their expense), guess that will take a day or two 
Still examining options - have PM'd Disco_Mickey for advice and await a response.

Hi,
Long time no post due to work travels (India) and other less important stuff (!).
So essentially repair has taken place - this was body off rebuild of the engine, rods, head check etc etc - as well as taking the opportunity to do injectors tests and change the glow plugs.
Warranty company approved quickly (to their full limit) and I got some extra work done (brake pipes, waxoyl etc) as well.
All in all have a working disco which runs better than before (!) hopefully this will continue !
The only thing to consider with Warranty is that you need to pay the bill and then they pay you (it is on the policy).
Overall worked out OK - although I'd certainly change the oil pump in the VIN range without question !!!
Also still pursuing JLR for balance of costs - court papers will be issued later this month.

Just out of interest, what had to be replaced.
