MOT passed with no advisories (been a few years since I had any) not bad for a 17 year old car.

Finally got around to fitting the new Off Side caliper slider. Did the brakes just before going on holiday (ok the day we left) and found this to be seized solid. Didn't think the Spline bolts would undo but considering they looked corroded to **** they came straigt undone.
Also fitted the Steering wheels buttons with voice control button and was pleased to find no coding needed. Replaced headlight switch and wiper stalk for Auto Items.
Just got the rain sensor to retro fit and to update the CCF for auto lights and wipers.
Engine still making weird ticking noise at back of engine drivers side. Been told possible cam chain noise so will investigate this. Been quoted £2500 for timing belts, Oil Pump, Cam Chains and Tappets so saving up a little bit for this and hoping it'll fix the noise otherwise.....I'll be letting it run to death and will find a RRS to strip for a TDV8 Conversion alla @disco_mikey. Reading his thread whilst drinking cider is not a sensible choice but has made for a good plan going forward

Mot passed with no advisories and cam belt changed. Not bad for a 2008 with 128000 miles. Cheers,

Grand day out making good use of the dog cage, tow ball and bike rack. Unlike the kids, mountain bikes and dog that needed to be hosed off, the disco just looks better with mud on!

Non mechanical maintenance
The window tints on the 2nd row have been progressively getting more bubbled this year,
then last week the one gave a single bubble the full width of the window, when I saw it, it looked like a crack!
Got a quote of £150 to remove the existing (apparently it’s realy hard) and replace so as usual, opted to DIY.
I heated the window up a bit then basically just pulled and the tint came off leaving most of the glue on the glass, however, it only took about 10 minutes with a clean Stanley blade followed by a wipe down with a brake cleaner damped rag to get them completely clean.
I bought a pre cut kit from eBay along with a “professional” tinters tool kit (£10)and went to town on it today.
Tbh, it was a lot easier than I’ve been worried about, and with the use of a Johnson’s baby oil / water spray, had no issue with getting the tint in place..
Quality at the moment looks good, will wait until it’s fully dried out this week to reserve proper judgement
On a side note, I took the opportunity to add a little bit extra to the boot windows while I was at it lol, those who know my Dennis will know the black UJ is beginning to become a bit of a theme

Almost wet myself, after hearing two bings! As each bing usually costs £200+ I was looking to skip Xmas presents for SWMBO and the kids. Strangely enough no lights came on, and nothing new came up on the Autel either.
Fingers crossed the three Amigos go elsewhere for the holibobs

The two bings were probably just a low outside temperature warning.

Changed glow plugs without a hitch (at least with the glow plugs). I had sprayed wd40 the last two days after it failed to start on Thursday. Set the torque wrench to 15nm to undo them and all came out with less than that.
However, fuel quick connector on fuel pump disintegrated on removal (plastic gone brittle), replaced with fuel hose and jubilee clip for now.
Fuel pressure sensor also damaged and won't clip back in. I thought I'd managed to secure it with a zip tie for now, but after a couple mile drive stuck in a limp mode due to bad values from the sensor.

Drove happily round in a whole lot of snow! 30-40 cms of fresh snow in the parking lot at work, and our lazy a$$ facility manager didn't want to clear any snow. S'no(w) problem in a Disco!
