Well....mine definitely has one
Now for another daft question. What is it used for exactly? Apart from giving us all excuses to exercise brain cells and connect up clever boxes of tricks to turn it
Does the D3 switch it on automatically at some point to pre-warm the engine? Was it used before but then disabled in the D3 software? If so, why do they still fit it?
I'm made up that I've got one, but I'm just not sure why it's physically there??? 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG
If it's below 4 or 5°C and the engine coolant is below a certain temperature (75°C rings a bell but that may be something else) the D3 will turn it on to help the engine warm up quickerThe End
Fitted my timer this weekend, wouldn't work at first so disconnected FBH for 10mins or so and it would partly work, pump started but heater did not fire so disconnected it for about an hour and then it worked okay So if you fit one and it doesn't work try the patience approach before resorting to something more drastic
Going to add a remote next, a GSM one is tempting but not sure if I can justify spending £150+ when a standard one will only cost about £25 The End

Yep...this looks spot on .
This is quite an interesting article (although based on the FBH fitted to the previous TD5 engine I think:
I seem to remember hearing about this website some time ago...........I don't think the members were particularly kind to our D3 (being the young upstart that it is).2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG
Now here's stupid question (Yeh I know you're used to those from me )
The timer comes factory pre-set to come on at 06:00, 16:00 and 10:00 (or something like) - if you only want it to come on once a day say at 6am - do you have to set all 3 start times to 6am or can you select which of the 3 times is active?
Before you say RTFM - I've read the instructions both in German and English and I'll be if I can work it out from them - hoping someone has been there done that and knows the answer and can then explain it to doppy old me.
Cheers, DN
Ignore this I just found the answer LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.
I'm sure someone on this post said the Timer would look all the better with an LR Oval instead of the Webasto logo - something like this?:
If anyone's interested I have 3 more of these ovals from the spots I put on the expo rack and I didn't put the ovals on as one can't see them when their on the rack. One is brand new, the others will need a little glue to stick on.
If you want one FOC, PM me your address and I'll put it in a envelope today - first come first served basis.

Disconutter,
please enlighten us to the answer if only to stop us having to read the manual ourselves Tintenter

You pre-set the times you may wish the heater to come on at then select whichever time is suitable the evening before. For example:
I have set the burn time to be 40 minutes based on experience with my old 300TDi which had an electric Kenlow pre-heater - this gets the engine to full running temp.
We usually want to use the vehicle at one of the following 3 times 0600, 0700 or 0900 in the mornings, so I have programmed the timer with 1. 0520, 2. 0620 and 3. 0820 as the 3 start time options.
The evening before I usually know what time I want to leave so I select either option 1, 2 or 3 by pressing Set the corresponding number of times. If I want a different start time I modify one of the options and then select that.
hope that makes sense.LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

I've just ordered a timer from this guy - "buy now" is £47, and the plug £3.95. Hope that the post is as good as he is in assisting - I suffered a PC crash as I was paying him, and he sorted out a direct payment route to solve the problem. He said he would be adding mine to the pile sitting waiting for the post office to open, so let's hope the PO is as good as his word.
Looking forward to a controllable pre-heat, shame LR couldn't get it going properly, what with everything going to sleep and that.

and me
Ive read and re-read the instructions so lets hope all goes well. I'm sure it will take me a lot longer than planned. Everything does !!!.
Just one obvious issue to resolve though. How to route the wires from the engine bay into the car. My clutch grommet hole thing is already full of wires and i cant squeeze anymore through....Duncan

If your using a remote to start the FBH then you can leave the timer under the bonnet as you will have no use for the program time on the timer 8).

Confused of Staffordshire
Having ordered the timer a few days ago I thought it wise to get to know what's under the bonnet, in particular wotz-wot on the FBH.
I hit a snaggett.
I have an extra wire on the connector, indeed there is a wire on the very pin that is used to connect the timer to the FBH - the RED wire in the photo. This wire vanishes into the FBH loom so was presumably put there by LR just about 3 years ago.
The question is how to "get round" this conflict of interest:
I can cut this wire back and insulate it on the "car" side, and use the stub to connect the timer to the FBH,
or
I can "T" into it and hope that whatever is connected there on the car won't argue with the timer (or worse, one will execute the other - and its always the more expensive one that dies....)
Now I KNOW I'm driving a Land Rover - Obeys Undocumented Features Rule (No7)

Cut it off and use the pig-tail to connect to - DONT tap into the wire with it still connected to the ATCU
It's possible you may also need a software update for the FFBH / ATCU
