Yoorek welcome to the forum!
You are correct, the timer will only fire the FBH. You will then need to manually switch on the vents (after the FBH has warmed up the engine) and get instant warm air in the cabin
Thanks for quick answer, that is bad news .
So advantages are that engine has better enviroment for work and in cabin will be warmer a little bit qucker...
Is it so big issue to run vents, was it dissccussed smoewhere on forum? I can't find...

Can someone who has fitted a timer/ control to the FBH just confirm that this is the correct wiring?

I can't remember the pinouts on the timer, but it looks OK apart from that I got mine working on a breadboard before i soldered it all up - just to make sure it worked. I also wired the timer before the remote, and checked that worked OK by doing a manual burn.2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

Bad news on lifting a track phil, any chance you can sort it or will it need a new timer? there are some track repair kits available IIRC, it's been a while since I did anything electronic!!2014 D4 XS

Yup, it's all part of the secondary electrical system I'm (trying to) finish in the Disco.
In short, timer + RF remote + GSM remote all sit behind a switch powered from the aux battery, OUT pin powers a red (for now) LED to show timer (FBH) is active. Remotes are behind the left boot panel, timer and switch are coming through and usable on my left cubby panel (along with some other bits ). Single W-BUS (long) cable runs to the engine bay through usual grommet and powers the FBH...

Cheap(er) Webasto 1533 Timers
For those interested in using the 1533 timers for this or any other heater project you might consider sourcing your timer off eBay.de, the German eBay site. There are always oodles of auctions going on for this item and consequently the prices are much lower than here iin the UK. Recently they have been selling for as little as €45 (£38) +P&P.

All installed and working fine, gonna make a few alterations at some point - use black flex for the power and signal cable across the engine bay, as the grey YY cable I used stands out a bit. Also add the LED output so I can see when it is on.
Other than that it was a pretty easy install I still had the red lead in pin 2 to connect to.
The output which operated mine was W-BUS by the way, on a March 05 SE2014 D4 XS

1530 Timer
Does anyone know if the Webasto 1530 timer will work for this mod?
I have a 1530 timer i bought many moons ago for installing on a BMW 530d.
The car has gone some time ago but i have just come across the timer and wiring languishing on a shelf in my garage.
The plug on the back appears to be the same, but i'm not sure if it accepts w bus signals like the 1533 does.

hi I have done the above mod so have a rf relay all set up with the 1533 timer all working great. I have now configured my follow me homes lights using the LR button on the key. The question is could I splice a feed from the headlamp to the relay to turn the fbh on from the LR button. If it is possible what would stop it from trying to fire the fbh everytime I turn the headlights on or because it wasn't in sleep mode would it not try. Obviously if I can do this then I can remove the rf relay and fit a normal one.
