Personal choice, not a fan of leather. Hot in summer, cold , winter, can look awful when it gets older. Cloth with seat covers is cheaper, more flexible and looks better when you sell. . Not the majority view though.Tony

Cloth seats can be pretty unhygienic too. My Mrs has a fair few allergies and one of them is dust & dust mite related. Try taking a cloth seat, that's been used for at least a year or two, then pound the seat squab a few times with something like the back of a wooden hand brush (do such things exist anymore?!); do it on a sunny day and watch the clouds of dust (mostly dead human skin - yuck!) rise into the air
Any dust simply wipes off leather and never gets into the foam of the seat 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

My current D4 has cloth seats but I have LR seat covers on, I was happy with the D5 S spec but can't get LED headlights or 3.0l so pushed the budget and gone for SE which has leather interior so won't need the seat covers.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Cloth seats with covers means you can take the covers off and wash them. Much like our Renault seats - they unzip and are washing machine proof to make removing chocolate, crisps etc from them very easy Genius.
However much you wipe the leather it will never be 100% clean. Reminds me of the Top Gear episode where they forensically examined some [leather] interiors for stains

Seeing as I don't go dogging in my car I'm not worried about being forensically clean and I very much doubt that your seat covers are either. Still can't escape the fact I can put my covers in the washing machine to remove all those dodgy stains Which has been very useful over the years with kids and teenagers.Tony
