I had a poke around one yesterday and thought it looked pretty good, inside and out - including the rear!
However, there were a few things that instantly put me off:
The rear seats are a disgrace and I'd be embarrassed to ask adults to sit in the back - truly dreadful.
The front seat armrests are too low and seem pretty pointless now, although the centre console seemed high enough to use instead.
The tailgate is a complete waste of time and I'd really miss ours on the D4.
The steering wheel felt far too thin, even for my girly hands.
The whole thing didn't 'wow' me and I thought it was completely underwhelming.
I'm sort of pleased that I was underwhelmed as it means I don't fee the urge to rush out and order one. Maybe in a couple of years it will tick all the boxes but I suspect I'll either be waiting to see what the new defender is like or moving to another brand.

Yes, of course. It's been mentioned on here by many but before I saw them I honestly thought it couldn't be that bad! Basically I have three gripes:
The main one is the seat base is too low such that there is absolutely zero thigh support. With my feet flat on the floor I'd estimate there was about 4" between the back of my knee and the seat. Next is that the area under the front seat where you put your feet is also quite narrow and space is limited. Last is that the rear of the seat is too firm and flat. You don't 'sink' into the seat back like you should, you basically rest your back on what feels like a flat board.
I spend a lot of time in the back of taxis in cars of all makes and models and I genuinely can't think of one where I've instantly felt so uncomfortable. They are utterly dreadful.

Haha, yeah I did try that. The pivot point seems to be set lower than on a D4 and as I tend to rest my arm at the rear of the rest raising the front made little difference. It's perhaps just a personal thing or perhaps just because it feels different to what I'm used to.

Why? The rear seat's poor design seems to be a consistent theme. Both my daughters, who have travelled over 100,000 miles in the back of my old bus said the seats, and I'm para phrasing the conversation they had with the LR guy: ' they are rubbish and not very comfortable and access to the 3rd row was a stupid design'.
The girls should know because they have spent so much time in the back. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

Still original injectors and turbo

I sat in the back of one briefly on Friday afternoon.
Can't say it was either very comfortable or very uncomfortable. But that might be because I don't remember the last time I sat in the back seats of any vehicle for a journey, and don't have back seats in my D3 anyway. to compare it to.
