Same here, no cage. Don't need a split tailgate to keep them in either (as some have suggested elsewhere when moaning about the D5). Our dogs are trained to wait until told to exit the boot.

Thanks
Ben will stay in the car with the boot fully open, but the bottom half tends to be raised when I'm out of sight for a while!

My dealer has just spoken to me about the D5 and said how nice it was to drive and how I should try one; I said that I would
It was only afterwards remembered that it doesn't matter how nice it is to drive as it doesn't meet the minimum acceptable criteria It would probably have been perfectly okay if I hadn't been thoroughly spoiled by the D4.

Must admit that I do sometimes just open the glass part of the tail gate if I want to let them have air without getting out. No need to tempt the little darlings... Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

It's strange... we all know the D5 is bigger on the outside, but because the vehicle is a little lower, and you sit a little lower inside, the whole experience feels much more 'car like'. I think it's this that makes it feel smaller on the inside... less of a commanding driving position.
I know there's a perspective thing going on here... but with both vehicles in normal height the D4 actually appears bigger from the back but smaller from the front ???
At least this displays why my kit won't fit

The difference at the front is simply down to the height of the bonnet. The D4's is low, which give the driver the ability to see the front corners, a great feeling of height and such a good view forward.

I went back and googled Discovery Vision and the rear design doesn't have as large of a protruding bumper as the D5. There must be a future use or two for that area otherwise I can't see the need for it to be so bulbous. I also noticed that the DV appears to be more planted with a wider stance, I assume that is because the wheels and tires are larger than what we've seen on the D5.

Basically, loads of Peli boxes, flight cases, tripod tubes etc. As well as carrying kit the D4 can also be used as a smooth tracking vehicle for filming out of. Another thing the D5 can't legally do !!!

Yup - it had crossed my mind many months ago - where 'Top Gear' and many others use the Discovery 3 / 4 as a camera platform. Is there an alternative?2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

Ignoring the split tailgate disaster for a minute, this photo illustrates the move from probably the cleverest and most innovative rear window design ever, to one of the dumbest!

Can the D5 have a ladder put onto the boot?
If it can be fitted, guess you would need to be careful it doesn't overload the gas struts or electric opening.

No OEM ladder option I've been through that with the dealer. We need constant access to the roof so this was a bit of a problem. Sides steps for side access though.MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

The "designer" did state that he hated roof racks and that owners would spoil the car by fitting them (I paraphrase), so don't expect much thought to have gone into easy roof rack access.

WTF. No OEM exposition rack either??
Hopefully Propseed can come up with something for the guys that need one.
I suppose it is rare to see a disco with an Rack on, but even so, I would have thought they would have designed one! Brave new world I suppose...
