I think that all of us on the forum should give a big to all the early adopters of the new D5 for making this sacrifice on our behalf to enable unbiased feedback on the new D5 and particularly the operation of the utility flap! Firm not hard

What happens if the "crap" takes off.
Will the bottom fall out of D4 prices? Peter

If everyone wants to sell their D4's to buy the "crap" then yes!
If the crap takes off with new buyers to the brand (yummy mummy, fashionista, blind people etc) then there will still be a market for a real utilitarian luxury classic.

I'm just getting too negative about this brand now...
Probably best if I stop commenting on this subject.

As the D5 is not really a direct replacement for the D4, I think that used D4 prices will hold up well. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I'm not so sure. Maybe in the very short term, but with dirty diesel likely to be penalised and the increase in hybrids like the Volvo T8 and IPace, I think prices of large diesel cars will fall.
Its certainly left me in a quandary. I was all set to buy a D5 but its not a replacement for my old bus. I like the Merc GLS 350d and this would do but its still a big diesel. I've always been a cash buyer our cars but I'm now thinking of leasing in the short term so I don't get landed with a big diesel car that might be worth little, but taxed heavily via congestion charging etc.
Perhaps the T8 is the solution or should I hope for a hybrid defender? Its all so confusing. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)
Sold Volvo XC90 R-Design (known as Basil)
Sold - D4 HSE (Known as Gerty)
No longer the Old Buses original owner
231,000 miles and counting
05 S manual owned from March 2005
D4 Face lifted
Still original injectors and turbo
V8 Front brakes
BAS Remap, Allisport Intercooler and deCat
EGRs blanked
T-Max split charge
Hanibal Expeedition rack
Prospeed ladder
Duratrac tyres

I was going to buy a Hummer v3 but despite there urban hard looks it seems they fell out of favour. Cannot understand why
Perhaps there are more people that want a better off road perfomer with discreet looks than the old fashion "hard core" looks?
Time will tell. Peter

For this reason?
Euro 6 regs
See my above post for details
"The SMMT is attempting to ensure all diesel cars aren't tarred with the same brush, and is drawing a line between older diesels and the new generation of clean diesel models. The concern is that confusion could lead buyers to snub the newer Euro 6 diesels when they deliver similar pollution reduction as the petrol alternatives." Peter
