IMPORTANT recall info on P017 recall |
|
Well had the recall sorted few months ago and the few little pipes were fitted , 3 times since the recall was done the brakes have felt like t , and on Thursday I was approaching a roundabout at sensible ish speed and it was like had no brakes , foot went right down I could feel the abs sort of working but ended up 8 foot across the roundabout and it frightened the out of me , if there was a car going around it there is no way I would of stopped , so I call the dealer who done the recall and it's booked in this Monday .
But the odd thing is 99.9 % of the time the breaks work ok So should they of changed the servo ?????????????????????
New boxers were needed !!!!! -------------------------------------------------
if you cant hold on dont let go , it ill come in handy for something even if you never use it.

Think I would insist if it were me!
Servo change is not a bad job - mornings work for 2 taking it easy. Mark.

If it was a servo issue, your foot wouldn't have went to the floor. The pedal would have been rock hard
A possible wheel speed sensor issue, I wonder, if the ABS kicked in My D3 Build Thread

It wasn't right to the floor it went down further than normal and I could feel the abs , it was almost like there was grease on the discs so I had to stand on them if you know what I mean ?? , but then they were fine next time I needed them -------------------------------------------------

Um, thinking again, that sounds more like master cylinder - if it goes part way, then it sounds like either the front or rear seals are passing sometimes and it is pushing the other half of the piston mechanically. Mark.

Vacuum leak? Though why its only now and then
Other thought, does it happen after you've previously applied them?
So the vacuum hasn't built up after a previous application?
Bit like clutching at straws without experiencing it Mark.

The breaks have not been 100% right since they had it in for the recall And I pump the brake it's like it's pressurising and pushing my foot back against me -------------------------------------------------

I've just replaced my master cylinder and servo as I was having some slightly odd braking issues, but nothing like this. Mine was simply a slight grab (But after 208k I'm not surprised TBH)
It does sound like a fault non-return valve or something along those lines.
Hope this attempt by the dealer sorts it out once and for all. Mark.

Hi
Am new to this and working out how these sites work as I need some help with a few issues I have
With my disco 3 conversion to 2016 external spec.
Any help?
Also regarding the braking problem I had something very similar to these symptoms and it ended up being corroded brake lines, ended up very expensive as its a body off procedure so a lot of the cost was labour as the new brake lines were around £180.
I hope this helps, doesn't sound like a servo problem to me.
Thanks

Hi
Well at least you have done the expensive part!!
I hope when it goes back in the land rover they sort it out for you
Do you know of any auto electricians in the Essex Herts areas by any chance?

I had a similar problem on a Rover 75 a few months after new brake lines, and one of the clips had damaged the piping, before sorting one day it blew completely by loosing all the brake fluid.
Just in case a possibility.
