Apparently all the Surround Camera images all stitch together and give a birds eye view of whats around the car.

But that is NOT what the see through bonnet is. It is where the cameras at the front project onto the infrared windshield's lower section (not in the 10" in dash panel) an image to display the road that is under the bonnet (that is blocked by the bonnet from the driving position).

I have this system on my caravan. After almost ripping the rear end off my Swift on a pub sign I invested in this for my new Vanmaster.

This shows that I was the last one onto the Eurotunnel as it gives above shot and rear view simultaneously.

It's not my caravan at all as they didn't have a shot of a Vanmaster from above. They start with 4 views from 4 cameras and use a mat rolled out front and back with chequered patterns in each corner. They then knit the images together with a bit of fiddling on a laptop. It then has a black rectangle which they drop a picture of a caravan (Hobby in this case). It does give the impression that everything around is tall but that's an effect they haven't managed to correct. London buses have the same system and their videos look the same. I must admit I find it brilliant at low speed for reversing and the indicators trigger the side cameras so if you want a closer look you indicate left and the rear image becomes a left side image. At speed the rear view isn't very clear long distance but works well up to about 35m. This is plenty for overtaking and I do still have mirrors of course. It wasn't cheap but it was a lot cheaper than repairing my van.
