Passenger Footwell Carpets
Hi Guys,
Does anyone know how to lfit the carpets in the passenger footwell? I have a dam of water in there can can't figure out where its coming in from. Have checked my sunroof drains and they are clear.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

aircon condens water leak? water ingress thru A pillar?
Best is to have someone pour water on the car with a gardening hose and see where it invades your car.Achim

As well as the leak points mentioned above, water also finds its way past the seal at the bottom of the windshield, especially if is a little warped. Once past the seal it drips down into the heater air intake duct into the pollen filter and down onto the passenger footwell carpet.
Carpets don't come out without removing both seals, though some have taken a sharp craft knife to theirs.

Looks like the windshield seal mightb e the culprit as there is a noticeable area where the seal has bulged off the windscreen. I'll try some sealer in there for now to see if it solves the problem.

I had a similar problem, the sunroof drain was clear but the bottom of the pipe had come away and it was draining direct into the passenger footwell...
To lift the carpets and significant amount you need to remove the front seat and satnav drive if you have it. The seat is surprisingly heavy!

Thanks. I think my sunroof drains are ok because when I poor water into the gutter, it drips out on the ground behind the front wheel, which leads me to believe that my drains are working ok and that I have weater coming in frome somewhere else.
I'll have a bash at removing seats and things when there is some good weather and see how I go from there.

Check that the drains on either side of the screen are free of debris. If they're blocked then the water will gradually seep in. It's just the right time of year to get full of windswept leaves and tree debris.

Is this on top, or underneath the scuttle plate?
I am now running short of options - put some sealer along the bottom of the windscreen where the rubber from the scuttle plate meets and I still have a dam of water after heavy rain.
Back to the drawing board.

If RHD
Usual culprit is the pollen filter, drop the glove compartment down and look for the filter cover - open and normally water will be there.
Easy fix by covering part of the air intake that is exposed under bonnet. Well covered in forum.

In my case , I removed the trim across the top of the windscreen as the roof lining was wet near the visor and dripping onto the floor.
Poured some water at the top corners of the screen and only one side was running away. With the help of a wire hanger it now runs away. Put some sealant along the top of the screen and put the trim back on.D4 HSE

Took the pollen filter out and had a look in there - seems dry as a bone.

You will need to remove front seat (passenger) after much soul searching I found the source of the leak being; the small round patch which is stuck over a hole under the plastic strip which runs down the side of the windscreen, I replaced all 4 plastic clips which come with rubber washers (£4). Before fitting the clips I ran a small bead of silicone around the holes. I also did the same with the edge and bottom of the screen. Dry out the carpets, mopped out the water and that seemed to have solved the problems.
The water was getting inside the pillar and running out the small elongated gap in the pillar almost level with the top of the dash, you'll need to remove the door rubber to see it.Joined Aug 2014. Disco 3 SE 54plate, Buckingham Blue, Cream leather.
