As per title headlights will only flash when dipped headlights are actually on? On "Auto" during daylight hours the Main Beam will not flash via the stalk even though the blue Main Beam indicator on dash lights up? The headlights flash properly when dipped beam are turned on manually or its dark on Auto.

Any ideas?

How are you judging - from outside or in; are the halogen bulbs working on main beam?

Up against a wall you can see when main beam on. All works fine when in manually "on" light mode but when in auto and its daylight (lights off) the Mainbeam will not flash even though indicated as doing so on dash....

Didn't think the D4 had halogen main beams ? or am I wrong ?

It's quite difficult to strike a HID up, flash and turn off. (and reduces life)

If it's the facelift D4 then the dipped and main use the same bulb. A shutter moves to give you main then closes off partially to give you dipped. Maybe a fuse or a relay to the shutter motor has gone.

Which lights have you changed and which ones don't flash?

If you have Xenon headlights they don't flash, it's the halogen in-fill lamps that flash.
