I have heard mixed reports about the compressor refurb kits. Some thing they just delay what is coming anyway by a few months. It seems to work for others.
Again watching with interest. On mine, whilst similar to yours. I'm leaning towards replacing the FVB.

My rationale for the refurb kit is that I want to prove it's the compressor is the issue before I replace it and I can't afford to have the car off the road for any time at all. I don't have the luxury of time, so I need to diagnose and replace on a single day as I only get the weekends to work on it.
If I got another year out of the compressor after the kit but proved that it was the compressor at fault then that's value for money for me at the moment. It might yet be a leaking dryer cap, I just haven't managed to strip that part of the car down yet? -------------------------------------------------------------------

Good point and as you intimate, following the least costly path first.

I think I can see the problem - a crack in the air dryer...
2 hours later...
I've replaced the air dryer cap and now the gallery maintains pressure, which is a good thing. But the front is very slow to rise still. The rear is quick but the front is very slooooooow. Having bought a new FVB but not fitted it I swapped out the old one but it made no difference - £115 wasted
So my conclusion is that the leak is fixed but that my compressor is close to death. I did the rear flexihoses and EPB today so couldn't face taking the compressor off to rebuild it as well but having bought the parts that's my next step... -------------------------------------------------------------------

Funny, everything is normal today, no sinking, front rises quickly, everything seems normal. Regular 1560kpa in the gallery. I think I will tentatively claim victory! -------------------------------------------------------------------
