Sat Nav DVD Unit

I need to replace the sat nav DVD unit in my '08 D3. I've whipped it out and the labels with part numbers are shown in the images below.

I'm struggling to find a second-hand unit with the part numbers the same as mine. I've read on old posts on here that a RR unit with part number YIB500120 is identical and will fit straight in. Is anyone able to confirm that for me before I splash out two hundred notes please?!

Cheers.

The DVD unit from an RR or SSRR should work. You could find a breaker that's local and friendly and just check, worst case scenario is nothing happens when plugged in as the voltages are low and fused so would protect a second hand unit. Needs to be from an 05-09 FF though and same for an SSRR id imagine.

Thanks KP.

One of the sellers is offering a refund if the unit doesn't work so I think I'll give it a go.

I'm getting the 'map DVD read error' and 'DVD is not a map dvd' messages. I've run cleaning discs in it and cleaned the disc itself numerous times.

I've seen those replacement drives and I'll probably get one if one of these second-hand units don't work out.

It looks like I'll be looking at swapping the guts out on mine, none of the second-hand units listed on Ebay are compatible apparently.

Geoff - was it simple enough to change the internals on yours...?

Useful link for that replacement mechanism as these things seem to have a limited life, had the same problems with mine.

Other options,

Won't this fit?

I bought one off this seller a couple of years back. I initially bought the wrong one (my fault), he was very helpful and changed it for the right one without any problems. No connection with him other than as a satisfied customer.

Might be worth contacting him.

Or this guy in Birmingham, don't know anything about him, he seems to rebuild them, and has 100% positive feedback as a seller.
