United Kingdom 2008 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Stornoway GreyDiscovery 3

Cheers Harvey. I have seen those but I've got concerns over the compatibility of the first one (see below) and I struggled to fully comprehend the listing of the second, it's not the most fluent ad I've seen!

I spoke to another Ebay seller this morning who has a YIB500070 for sale. In his listing he states that it was removed from a 2006 D3 and is suitable for D3s from VIN 6A389414 on (mine is 8A...).

However, when he put my registration number into whatever parts system he uses he advised me that the YIB500070 most probably won't be compatible as my '08 model requires YIB5000160 (now LR018252) so it would be a "shot in the dark".

Yeah, it is a bit of a shot in the dark getting the right one and they're too expensive to make a mistake with.

The eBay ad for the guy who rebuilds them is not clear as you say but have a look at his feedback, generally seems that he's helpful and knows his stuff and, if you can get to him, he'll fix it while you wait.

Good luck with it whatever you do Thumbs Up

Comedyharvey if you wish to pay £300 plus then sure this guy does look like he knows what to do but you can pay £160-180 I think that is what I paid and I am more than happy with the outcome and do the job yourself and be satisfied as if I remember it was about 8 screws to take apart the outside and about 8 again inside and a few ribbon cables it is quite simple to do Thumbs Up

I received the new unit today from Opuradio only to find it's made no difference whatsoever! Big Cry I seated it as carefully as possible in the chassis and was extra-careful with the ribbon cable so I'm assuming I didn't damage it.

With no disc inserted the screen reads 'Please insert a map DVD'. On inserting the original LR 2007/08 DVD the message changes to 'The disc installed is not a map DVD' message. With the recent £35 2014/15 replacement (discussed elsewhere on this forum) the message reads 'Please insert a map DVD'. This suggests to me that it is reading the DVDs in some way but not in the way that it shows the bl**dy maps! I've removed the unit and carefully cleared out the 3 connectors and the ports but I'm still getting the same thing.

I'm really hoping someone out there has got a very simple fix for this...please?!?!?

Try a hard reset and then let the car go to sleep completely with the disc inserted and see what that does Thumbs Up

Have you tried a genuine replacement disc?

No, but I've cleaned the 07/08 original numerous times. I'll have to see if I can get hold of a newer original...

Sorry to hear that. Nothing I can help with I'm afraid other than to say my 'new' £35:00 disc has been in for about three weeks now and has worked fine so far.

So they do seem to work, but yeah, it would be worth checking with a newer genuine disc if you can borrow one.

It is really weird. My 'new' £35 disc was working and then I started getting these read errors every now and again until they became permanent. Common-sense pointed at the DVD unit but now I'm back to square one.

Really need it sorted before 3 weeks driving in France in August!

I would try a known working genuine disc first, and maybe stick copilot on your phone for your trip to France .. I'd trust copilot more than the LR nav

I'll try and get hold of one.

I know what you mean but it bugs the hell out of me every time I get in the car that it's not working!

Before I splash out on an original DVD, is there anyone in the West Midlands that wouldn't mind letting me try their disc over the weekend...?

Also, is this the sort of problem that may be picked up by an IID tool? I've no experience of them but wondered if the resetting of any faults may clear the problem... (can you tell I'm grasping at straws now?!?)
