Potato boxes?

I'm thinking of getting a few of these delivered. Planning to cut them down a bit to 6'x4'x3' and use them on their end.

It's easier to make your own, just leave enough air gaps so whatever is inside is drying. That way you can make to your own size.

Shocked Shocked

That looks very dangerous

Perfectly safe, its not the height or the ladders that are the dangerous bit, its hitting the ground, no one ever mitigates for that in their risk assessments, couple of mattresses and its fine, save all that safety harness malarkey!

Chaps,

Just wondering what the thoughts are on burning clean MDF off cuts in an open fire?

Been making a few bits and have a fair few offcuts which I need to get rid off. Is it ok to burn or will it create fumes with an open fire / chimney issues etc?

I only have a small open fire, so would only be burning small bits at a time. This was from the other night:

I usually burn olive wood and smokeless coal.

I thought MDF was poisonous and therefore the smoke from it would also be. Not sure its a good idea on an open fire.

The risk of fumes from the chemicals would be too high on an open fire and even with a hot stove you are only going to line your chimney with a cocktail of MDF gunk. If this gunk ignites whilst lining your chimney you could be in for a very bad day.

I'd stick with the natural fuels.

Thumbs Up
