If you need to keep a small supply handy in the garage i can recommend warehouse trolleys (mines ex screw fix off eBay) means you can roll to front in winter then to back of garage out of way in summer. main log stores are other side of the house so for front room fire this works very well Thumbs Up

Most of ours is kept in an open garage, enough for about 4m3 of hardwood logs about the same of builders stuff in crates & under work bench.

Plus an internal cupboard with about 5 days wood (all day burning) for when it's a bit 'orrible outside.

When both full enough for a full Heeland winter, esp when combined with 2700 ltrs of heating oil and 12 bags of house coal. Mr. Green Mr. Green

Fire wood is good, but you can make stuff with it too.

From log (storm blown cedar) to bee hive:

I got 10 cubes early this year to Buck and split. Done about 25% so far. Keeps me out the house and off the iPad.

It was delivered on the most horrible day in January, I watched from the car while the guys unloaded it.

I setup this simple trestle to buck the logs. The 2 cross pieces are notched. You cut almost through then roll it off and finish the cut. Simples!

The saw is 25 years old, excellent machine, Sthil 021? It's had a few simple repairs but still same engine and clutch.

Ready to split

Working on these today, think I might need a bigger chainsaw, the big one is over a metre in diameter!

Sadly depleted log store after much burning this winter. Lots of logs to process waiting round the corner though and some more trees up the road to log and transport back to Base!

My Stihl 026 going strong with the help of the local Stihl agent who donates old 026s to me as they do not like to service them.

I swapped my two huskys for a new cordless electric husky now I cut less. Am totally impressed by it, faster chain speed than my original petrol ones and can take down and log a mid sized field maple with one battery.

All the local council contractors have gone over to them as well here now.

Wood Stores depleted now but will be starting agin for next winter soon.
