I got 10 cubes for ca £220 and now just started my next splitting season...

Sloss,

I knew it was 5 something, you're correct 5 cubic meters it was, still great value considering what some people charge for a "1 ton' builders bag around here.

Wish I had some of your toys: tractor, pto driven log splitter, teleporter and what looks like a lot more ground than me to store it all Thumbs Up

How did you go about buying from the forestry commission?

My local wood has just started cutting a load to thin out - do you just speak to the ranger? Or is it someone you know?

It's easy in Scotland, just phone the local Forest office and ask.

They told me where there were stacks and just to go along and pick what I wanted then advise the Forrester, mobile number supplied, and it would be marked up for me. After payment I got the combination lock number and sent in a Contractor to collect and deliver to me.

All very easy really.

Spent yesterday with my 'three man wood syndicate' cutting this lot to length and splitting. Going back shortly to trailer two loads of seasoned back to my house, and re-stack as much of the new pile as possible.

Stuffed a new piston and barrel on my misbehaving 560 today. I put a cheep new piston in it and cleaned up the bore last September but it's just not right. When you look at the quality difference in the piston castings from genuine parts to the cheep one I took out I know know I'll never bother with the cheep stuff again.
Anyway, the saws running as new. The carbs adjusted themselves and settled in a few seconds of the first start. Got a bit of wood cut, split and stacked in. It's satisfying to say the least Thumbs Up

This evening I got the engine out of the wood chipper.. if anyone has a spare crank for a lombardini 1003 I'd sure appreciate a deal.. ive not got the clutch drum off yet but it's got an inch of play on the crank up, down and side to side. God knows what's behind the clutch and covers. It feels pretty terminal Big Cry
