Central locking green wire splice
Before I go hacking away can any one confirm that the green wire splice that I have spent ages looking for and finally found is the one that causes problems with central locking as a result of water leaks in passenger footwell?
I have put pics below (I Hope)
I was expecting wires in one end and out the other or is what I have pictured what I am looking for??
Actually I hope what I have written and asked makes some sort of sense?
Do I just cut end off and rejoin
the tree wires or do I open it up or should it have wire / wires coming out of the other end
Yes cut the black splice off twist the wires together and solder, then protect from damp..

Thanks Flack
Will do that right now and feedback
I assume you have had the same problem due to water in the duct / footwell??
I have tried the wire curtain trick and found it goes all the way and then stops.....I assume this is because there is a right angle at the end where the pipe goes through the body work....did you have that issue and if so how did you get round it?
I dont want to force it incase I dislodge the connector
Drivers side clears fine, as do the back ones its just the passenger tube that is giving me grief

My key fobs stopped working and I have just done the wire splice job and all is well. I now have to establish why this footwell was saturated whereas the drivers side is ok. I don't have a sunroof so not sure if the drain blockage issues will apply?
check your pollen filter if its wet then you have a leak in the vent under the front scuttle panel.

Job done I hope so thought I would post the following in case it helps others.
You will find the green and white splice about 1" - 2" behind where the smaller loom slits off and dissapears under the passenger seat
It is buried in the main loom and this can take a while to find.
3 green and white wires in one end of spllce (none coming out other side) as shown in my pics
Cut off black splice connector
Strip wires back and solder them together
Cover in heat shrink
Then what I did as you will see in pics, I cut two fingers of a rubber glove and pushed new soldered and heat shrinked end inside and taped it up. That way its more protected from damp and easier to find if you ever had to do it again.
Place back into the loom this time on the outside and cable tie everything together again.
Took me half an hour once I had found the splice.
Central locking now works again.
Hopefully the pics I took follow on from this description and they will help someone else having what seems to be this very common fault.
Thanks to all who guided me when I got lost and confused
Regards
Clive
ps sorry about the quality of the pics

It might be a good idea to check the splice mentioned in THIS post whilst you have it all in bits.
Same cause, Same area, different wires, different problem.

It depends ....
Think there are 3 to 4 options .... all semi linked ....
Wether you have a sun roof or not and wether someones done any previous work or not ....
Under the 'search' option above (on the site) look up a few threads ... TBH it could be a few things .... I am slowly going through each of them so the problems are done and dusted once and for all...
I have been on here for a short time as well .... so with the TDV6 and no sun roof I found water in the driver sill whilst replacing a broken trim (door floor panel) .... water is the cause of most issues and this seems to be either sun roof issue (blocked pipes or ducts) or a known design fault in the A pillar trim (requires an upgreade kit from LR - £9.50 and a bit of sticking and trimming ) .... Both covered on here ..... or lastly air conditioning (covered on here) ....
If water gets in the sill then it effects other things as thats where the electrics (wire looms ) are situated ... one issue is the central locking (covered on this thread) if the water collects and is left unchecked.... it can build up and spills into the driver and passenger wells......
Hope this helps .......
Parts are cheaper than you think though and fixes are all covered on here ....

To moisture seal heatshrink I add some Araldite underneath and then shrink it.
