Yup, in fact two had to be rotated 180 degrees. Even with this it is tight fit.
With that said, I can't find a reason why it would have negative impact. Connecting the two circuits, voltage is provided. Using 5A fuses at given side protects this side wiring (Robby - thanks for clarification). So, should there be a short circuit having two fuses at 5A at given circuit level - protection should be in place still?

Again, I'm not such an expert as Robbie and am very grateful for his analysis and that he came up with this. Big, big thanks again. Smile

The issue you have by rotating them is that you have a 10 amp rated circuit running a feed from a 5 amp fuse or a 10 amp circuit feeding into a 5amp circuit bypassing the 5 amp Fuse. Without knowing which fuses are reversed no one can say.

To clear up any question marks. To link the circuits, I've at each side that element with two fuses, where one is for the original circuit and the second fuse is for the wire connecting to the second connector hooked up into the other circuits.

Therefore to keep the 5amp for the lower amperage circuit it should be enough to have both fuses 5amps. Adding on the other side for the connecting circuit also 5amps one, shouldn't change anything but re-ensures it. Therefore out of the 4 fuses, keeping only one 10amps protecting the circuit with original 10amps should fulfill the aim.

Happy to hear and learn where is a fault in this line of thought - my take is that I might be overly simplifying thinking about it, and maybe missing some basic point. I'm not electrician practitioner and would never try to figure out which circuit as you did - thanks again.

I have been working on a possible solution to provide the correct fusing to each circuit.
I have created a line drawing to show my idea and used different line colours and styles to show the circuits.
Basically, both linked circuits (fuse 24 to 49 and fuse 25 to 50 has its own 10 amp protection).
The other circuits have either 10 amp or 5 amp protection.
The idea is to use a 6 way mini fuse box connected to - mini fuse to tab style adaptors, all available on fleabay.
I have included an image of the line drawing...
What do you guys think?

Yeah I realise no-one is going to do this, it was just to show that it is possible to do the mod and maintain the correct fusing. Very Happy

I'd love too, but too complicated for me that so just going to live without it when I get a D4! First one looked simple. Weird that they stopped flogging the 5a version but hey ho! I will survive Razz

HI everyone. I just bought my Disco 4 here in Malaysia as a recond unit from UK.

Love the car but found it lacking since the fairy lights cant be used like a DRL unless switched on.

Glad to have found this forum and done this mod from the fuse. It works now.

Thank you all for sharing about this. Cheers.

Hello

I have been switching my DLR's on manually for years now. So glad to see this thread.

Question though, In South Africa I don't seem to be able to get the mini fuse with break out wire. So I would need to have something made up...BUT we do get the bussmann bp/hhh connectors. I did read in the thread that you one of you found that with just one fuse bridged, both sides were coming on, or did I misunderstand. Nothing was mentioned after that. The reason I ask is that if that is the case, then I would only need to plug in one side, and in so doing be able to keep the fuse amps correct for each port.... but both Left and Right lights would work...or am I wrong.

All I really know about electric wires is that when you let the smoke out it stops working.

Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

Hi all

Thanks...

However, I managed to make some, correct amperage and works well. I bought some fuses, and proper wires. Then ground the surface away carefully until I got to the metal part. Solder and then heat-shrink ti seal it all up. That took about 20 minutes a lead. Fit took 5 minutes and that was that.

Thanks for the help!

cheers

Hi all, and thx for this great mod !

I have two questions :

I saw that with only one break out cable, front/rear & left/right fairy lights are illuminated. Can I let with one break out cable or must I put two break out cables ?

With fuses 24-49 / 25-50, LEDs are ON from the unlock command. What fuses to use for ignition switched ?

Thank you !
