is it not just possible to enable drls in the ccf then 'edit' the wires in the headlight so the feed from the drl then goes to the side light

Installed this mod this weekend. I tried to save some money by using "add-a-circuit" fuse holders from eBay instead of the Halfords wires recommended earlier in the thread. They do work but because the fuses extend sideways from the holders and the close proximity of the required fuse locations they do interfere with each other a little so I would recommend the Halfords parts as a good investment in a neater installation.
I used a double-pole single-throw rocker switch in the circuit which allows switching back to standard operation in seconds. I didn't bother mounting the switch and have just left it floating behind the glove box.

Hi Robbie, many thanks for this brilliant guide. I have only had my D4 for 3 months and came across this thread, just 4 spare fuses a bit of scrap wire and heat shrink.....cheapest mod I have ever done!
I have been on several forums but this one is by far the best with such helpful people not afraid to share their knowledge.

Did this mod on my 2010 RRS, exactly the same implementation. I also have a DPST switch to add in to switch the lights off easily - which may be handy when taking the car to a garage and they can't figure out how to switch the lights off.

I know this thread was written coming up for three years ago but its still being used I followed it today, converted my L320 RRS 2012 fairy lights to DRL and I'm very pleased with the results.....

Hi Guys,
Big thanks to @Robbie for perfect instructions.
I got it working too though due to existing Osram DRL/Fog lights and the way these are connected if I'd just follow instructions here, I'd disable my real DRL whilst aim is to have Osram DRL due to legal requirements and Fairy light for great look at the same time.
The way I got installed DRL is that these are on when ignition is on, gets turned off if any "side lights" or low-beam is on.
Once mod has been applied it disabled DRL. This got me thinking only to discover how these DRLs are connected at the moment. It takes Ignition of from BJB, v+ directly from battery and is grounded + uses side-lamps (our fairy lights) signal to turn off DRL.
Therefore it looks like I'd need to remove current cut in to stand-by lights (pin 2?) and cut to pin 11?
The way I came up with pin 11/pin 9 is as following:
- based on wiring diagram found headlamp within "exterior lightning" and there's reference to C0011-11 on one side and C0011-9 on the other side. To avoid loosing DRL in case of bulb issue, I'd take pin 11 and not pin 9.
With that said, given these are Xenon lights, input from you guys would be appreciated if there are any concerns against doing this?
Does any of you have Electrical Reference Library in English? I've found only one in Italian and whilst it doesn't stop from getting through it, it takes much more time.
From safety perspective what's the best way to protect the part were now is cut-in using quick-splice connector?
Once taken off from where it is installed now, it will leave lead open. I want to make sure it is protected at best as want to be on safe side if any water would get there (let's assume crossing through a stream would happen).
The way it looks like is here: https://youtu.be/3z6W_3ZRCaY?t=578
Big thanks to Powerfull UK guys - they are amazing with their videos. Unfortunately I didn't install DRL on my own, hence need to fix it now.
What is the best way to connect it to new pin 11 cable and have it waterproof?
Thanks in advance.

Update:
Success achieved.
What and how it works:
a. Ignition off
- normal behavior for position lights, no DRL
b. Ignition on
0 - DRLs with fairy lights front&rear
1 (position lights) - position lights + DRL (the best would be to be able to disable DRL in this state, but with connection limited at the front lamp area only, there's no way to identify if position lights are turned on or off given them being powered as per mod from AFS, so DRLs are on, takes power, but given these are off in ignition off position - it is acceptable
2 - low beam with position lights (standard behavior), DRL goes off.
Above is achieved cutting into pin 11 with quick splice connector instead of pin 2 at the front lamp.
If any of you has an idea how to identify knob in "position lights" setting, please do let me know as I'd be keen to further fine-tune behviour though don't want to pull any cabling from CJB or elsewhere to front lamp area.
Thanks again to @Robbie for providing sharing great mod and for coming up with such great solution!

Robbie, I’m going to do this on my 12MY Sport, do you know if it’s the same Fuse positions? What’s with the shiny II Sqn Tonka?
