Our MY16 also reported 3 degrees higher than Simon's MY11 on the trip down through France last Friday. We have PMRs with us so will keep a regular check on it and compare readings over a few days.

to getoffmyland, and others with similar issues.

As I stated on an earlier thread, I too have a 4 week old Discovery EU6 that reads 3c high, and now I realise that the heater also blows cold/cool air with quite a force for a long time before eventually tepid air comes through.

Compared to my previous Freelander2 (2 of them) the Disco heater is similar to the 1950's vehicle heaters!

I don't seem to have any problems with the heating system.

Cabin heating seems fine with mine.

I just mentioned on another thread I compared my cars temperature to a D3 today and my car said it was 17 his was reading 14. I wonder if this will cause any problems with the FBH kicking in on colder days?

I have similar symptoms. My sensor over-reads by about 3deg and for some reason my fans blow cold air until the engine warms up then the car warms up. I would expect them not to blow anything until up to temperature really.

Now I've noticed it I'll investigate properly but it hasn't really been cold down here in the Solent yet for me really to notice. I'm not convinced the top fans actually blow hot air at all and maybe the heat just comes from below.

I think you will find that the reason it blows cold air on start up is because there are two temperature sensors feeding information to the Hevac ecu, one inside the car and the one outside that is giving the optimistic readings, so although in reality the air inside and outside the car is at the same temperature the Hevac ecu sees the outside air as warmer than the inside and will therefore use the fans to blow this 'warmer' air into the cabin to attempt to reach the target temperature that you have dialled into the Hevac controls. If it did not see the outside air as warmer it would hold off on running the fans until it detected sufficient heat in the engines cooling system to raise the temperature of the incoming air.

Yeah that makes sense. I will call the dealers in the new year, not too worried at the moment.

Hello
I have just read this thread and I am also experiencing the outisde temp reading 3 degrees to high.
I am also experiencing issues with the climate. The car is only about 6 weeks old but has had to go back to dealer on many occassions due to lots of faults. The last one being that I didnt think the climate was working properly. Despite having it set to 26, the heating was still only blowing out luke warm air. The dealer checked it out and said there was nothig wrong with it. They also compared it to another new car and sure enough, that felt the same, so basically they said, nothing more could be done.
Compared to my old D4, the heating is no where near as good.
I checked this morning the outside temp gauge against that shown on my other car, and sure enough, there was a 3 degrees diferance. Would this effect the climate control ??? Has anyone had this problem fixed yet? What can be done about it ?

The important thing is even if your dealer is saying everything is OK (which is nonsense if the reading is out) make sure they register it as a customer concern on the system. Smile

I'd have thought the climate/heating not working is a much better line of attack than the temp guage is over reading. That might get more attention, especially with the threat of rejection. Thumbs Up

Not liking it too warm and with the mild weather I have never paid much attention to the heater - must give it a good test over Christmas ready for its return to the dealer after new year. Thumbs Up

My MY16 HSE has the same problem of the external temperature reading 3 degrees higher. I did not notice it when I first got the car last July but I did report to the dealer that the internal temperature (as read by IID tool) was several degrees higher than actual and the requested temperature had to be set high to stop the aircon freezing the driver. They investigated and agreed it was wrong but I have not followed it up so far.

Do other cars that have the external temp problem also show a higher internal temp?
