Again, drawing on the FL2 experience, resale prices of very late FL2's actually rose slightly for the year following the DS launch.
If the D5 follows the same pattern of a steep cost increase and not being a true direct replacement, I suspect that the same thing may happen all over again. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4

2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄

As a prospective D4 buyer, what are you likely to do now?
Not sure to be honest. I think I will have to look at nearly new, but would still work out more than the deals I got offered on a basic SE but we'll see.

absolute joke...my D3 HSE was one of the early ones, the price new was a shade over 30k, i know 10 years have elapsed but I can't see how in gods name the price should have gone up that much, especially with the price of commodities as they are at the moment. 3 Flash Indicators

You've got a point. At these prices and with such a limited choice, even BMW's can start to look tempting! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

hmmm...
I just sold my 2012 M40d - fully loaded - a 65k when new car :-0 with 21,000miles on it - for £30k. to swap into a new D4 HSE.
I would take a very long test drive before you jump into an x5. Great on the motorway and smooth roads - awful on country lanes and lethal on snow.

Good to know I had a first generation X5, it was diabolical but I maintain I got a bad one. I can't see me moving away from discoveries but the prices are ridiculous. 3 Flash Indicators

yes, i have to say - after being in the x5 for a year... the Disco is better to drive but the spec, the sunroof, the nav etc... is like stepping back in time
