Sadly I suspect not as not a Trade purchase - sold as seen / caveat emptor etc.
More learned folk will be a long in a minute, but have you tried contacting the seller? - you never know, might make an offer to help?

I think you may find you have some rights well worth some research, if not get it fixed and take the guy to small claims.

Correct, unless there was misrepresentation. i.e. No accidents- and it was in a prang a few months ago, or FSH and it's not been serviced in three years. etc.
Was the engine light on when you inspected it and has the loss of power happened since the test drive?
Broke down on way home
He changed the fuel switch for another faulty one
(So obviously a fault fuel switch to start for 10)
Agreed to a partial refund for inconvenience
Offered to pay for the new switch
So driven 256 miles
Fuel problem
Local garage discovered a damaged fuel pipe which has been cut and clipped
I've installed a new fuel rail pipe and fuel switch
Waiting for fuel pipe to come from land rover
Today - loss of power, server fuelling issues
Fuel is leaking down the manifold
Now parking brake light is on and brake is dragging
Engine management light is on massive drop in power
Ironically the guy I've bought this from IS ON THIS FORUM AND PROBABLY READING THIS
His phone is off
And not replying to messages
So yes vehcile is bieng recovered to garage tomorrow
I have no idea how much this going to cost but I will be asking g the former owner politely if he would like to contribute to the repair costs...

This is always a major worry when buying a used truck and it can turn out to be massively expensive as we all know LR are not cheap to fix.
Feel for you mate and hope you get it sorted.

Any fault codes?
Get them read first and don't just throw parts at it.
Yeah she is in tmw for code reading
Then we will see what's needed
(Notice that we refer them as "she" lol!)

I went through the same kind of thing, in the first week had a free health check at Land Rover, was told over £3k to sort the issues it had (before current transmission issues). I have a feeling the previous owner hid the torque converter issue with some quick fixes, and maybe porkies about the diff (said it was wheel bearings). That's the risk with buying private, sucks majorly, and not really any come back. Hope you manage to sort yours quickly and cheaply and get to enjoy the car.

Just had a very similar experience with a TD5 D2, owner was on a forum that I bought via but went very quiet once the issues emerged, ignored my messages.
I bailed out and got rid, he then had the cheek to put up a post saying that he was sad because he thought it had gone to a good home - tosser
Hope you get it resolved and at not too much cost but forget any comeback on the private seller.
