It's a sickening feeling and hard to come to terms with, especially when things keep cropping up after paying out so much. This forum is like a self help group where we can all share and support each other

Feel for you mate
Probably paid out similar to yours when I first got mine, and it seemed to be never ending with £300 here, £600 there - nearly every month something needed replacing!
Things have settled down now though after 2 years of ownership.....just fuel and tax/insurance going out.....but 94k+ miles on her now, so waiting for something big to go bang Iggy/Ieuan

What is wrong with the front diff ? Bear in mind that some have found just one bearing to be shot, so a bit of relatively easy work and < £50 on parts, and it could be ok for another 100 k miles. D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.

Reminds me of the old question:
How do you end up with a small fortune running a D3?
Start with a large fortune.
Hey ho, it's only money.

Im sure the three Fs apply to land rovers somehow.
Ha can you believe it I have just got home from work and there is a speeding fine behind the door. Checked date of offence and which car (as I have 3 one work car the disco and a MGF) and it's the d3 only I did not have the car that day I gave it to the Landrover Indy garage to see what was wrong in fact it's still there now ! So I have contacted the garage and he said he was driving but thought it was a 50 as he was doing 47. I gave him the bad news and he took it on the chin and said I have never had a speeding ticket in 15years of driving. How unlucky is this car I am going to look for a reg plate with 666 in it. By the way thanks for the support at least I am not the first and won't be the last. Also Mike the gap tool has come then it went away again as it was too big to post so need to collect from PO in the morning after the doctors where I going to see about my high blood pressure and suicidal tendanceys

I am getting close to getting rid of mine. £6650 over three years; services, front bushes, gearbox selector linkeage, new epb, £1000 on tyres, £500 a year on road tax , broken boot switch, wonky drivers door, stolen spare wheel, replacement winch, wheel, protector, new discs and brakes all round, twice on the rear and that doesnt include fuel. Now my wife is facing redundancy and i cant keep pumping money into it.Current - Range Rover TDV8 2007 HSE.

The diff might be an easy fix, it could just be the bearings.Club Exped trailer

He said that the driveshaft was sloppy going into the diff and suspected that the bearings had collapsed. You see the problem I have is that when I pay all this money out I want a g/tee and the only way is to let him do it all including supplying the parts. I also got hit with another bombshell while I was passing on l the good news about the speeding ticket and that was the Preston firm wanted to overhaul the whole gearbox including the torque converter which as you know was done only 4 weeks ago. They will not g/tee it without. That means the price has now gone to £2000 plus vat for just the gearbox. So we are now looking at other suppliers and other options. I would welcome any ideas or places that could do it so when I take his speeding fine form over to him tomorrow I can suggest these options.
