Discovery 3 Heated Seats Front & Rear

Hello Guys.

I posted earlier regarding finding out whether my Disco had heated seats elements. It turns out it does not and instead the wires I found where for airbags!

Anyways, I've recently purchased and am awaiting delivery of a new HSE interior. Which includes heated seats front and rear.

My Disco is an 'SE', however it's an irish one so it's spec would be more like the UK 'S'.

Where would I start to install both this new interior and all is functions including, electric movable seats and heated front and rear. I have the new HEVAC unit

Looking forward to your replies. Thumbs Up

Hey,

I was writing to you the last time when I was trying to get my heated seats going! So thank you for reply to this thread. As we discovered that time the front seats were infact not heated.

Basically, I've got everything including Front & Rear Seats. The fronts are electric. I've also got the door cards and associated bits.

I would like to get the front electric seats working and also the rear heated seats. Would the wiring for the rear heated seats be present already? What should I look out for.

Can I easily re-run this wiring myself?

Thanks Thumbs Up

Sad reflection on my social life but the 3rd row of seats have never been sat on (have lived under a bed for 6 1/2 years) and the middle row has only been sat on a couple of times (one person, to restaurant and back) and now like in my man cave room.

Should see sense and sell them but that that would be too much like hard work. Embarassed

Maybe mines a special 'S' so!

Anyways, I have neither and would like to install same. I imagine it shouldn't be the hardest project. Worst case I will have to run the cables manually and put small connectors on them to insert to seats/ switches.

Just not sure were to start. There is some great write up on front heated seats install, however I'm having trouble making heads or tails of them.

So to recap;

I need to install;

-Front electric seats
-Front Heated Seats
-Rear Heated Seats.

Simple!! Hopefully? Whistle

If it was me that goin to do this install. I'd start in the engine bay fuse box.
Check to see if you have the fuses needed present.

Fuse 7 (25Ah) 17 (50Ah) ,11 (30Ah)

When this is checked and all present, I'd have a look at the fusebox inside the car.

Fuse 28 (5Ah) and 51 (10Ah).

If all those are present, then you have all the power feeds you need.

Never asked before, but could you not reclassify it to a 2 seater or commercial? Or is that no benefit? Very Happy

As I understand it, no it can't as it was a "car" not commercial at registration. Only thing I have to make sure of is that the insurance co is happy with the mod which they are. Thumbs Up

Hello Mr. P

So I've manage to get out to the land rover and have a look to see what I got.

I have all the fuses except F11 in the engine fuse bay, I'm sure I could put one in it's place?
This includes everything on the internal fuse bay.

Likewise, I also removed the rear trim and managed to locate the two x heated seat plugs for the rear seats. They were took into the C pillar beside the door.

I don't think I have the wire from the HEVAC to the kick panel, however I imagine I should have the wire from the kick panel to the drivers seat.
So it should be a matter of making some wires to go from the Hevac to the kickpanel. Will the seat be plug and play? Electric/ Movement wise?

I've taken a couple of pics to try and give you guys an idea of what wiring I have present in the car.

For a start I removed the centre rear console and tucked in there is the heated seat connectors, so it looks like everything is present to get the rear heated seats working.

Now the front!!

Driver Side Kickpanel

Driver Side Kickpanel

Wires at the base of the front driver seat

Driver Side Kickpanel - What does this do?

The last picture... if you unplug this, does the radio goes silent? if so you are in the right A pilar / post.

You need to look for a Green 22 pin connector. I think its the one closest to the firewall, towards the engine. To make this a bit more easy to explain along the way.. You have 2 parts of the connector, The upper part, wires commin from the top of the connector. This end of the connector goes to the Hevac panel, the lower part of it goes to the seats.

You can ask a dealer to print out the wiring for Heated Seats. I asked some dealers here in Norway to print out some wiring pages for me and they did it free of charge.

Anyway.. check and see if you have pin 4 Light Green wire ,5 Black/green wire populated in the green connector upper and lower part..

Hello Mr. P and fellow Disco 3 Users!

I believe I do have the wires you speak of. Well at the least the main loom part, the dash loom is missing the vital heated seats part. So I decided to must make my own.

Which I is coming along nicely! I managed to source the seating wiring diagram on this forum and began studying it. It was difficult as I had to Google each connector e.g. C2950 to see if I could get a picture of it so I could know where exactly everything was/ is to go.

I removed various pins from a donor loom I have and I know have 3 distinct sections or directions as I think of them.

LH Seat, RH Seat and Fuse. Still not sure where to wire that route to, I think c2239 is the A Pillar. If so that's where it goes.

I don't have the heated seats yet, but I would like to have all wired up and ready prior to there arrival. That's what I'm doing now.

What do you guys think? Am I on the right track?
I would value any input, as I'm on a steep learning curve!
