I had been suffering from the smoke screen when joining the dual carriageway for some time! Worrying it was something serious!
Thanks to this post i found the answer and did this mod today on my drive at home. Thought i would join and say thanks as not the first time this forum has helped me out (brakes, lower control arms).
Some tricky access but managed ok trying different sockets, extensions, ratchet spanners!
The long original drain pipe securing nut seized near the end and took the stud out instead. I actually undid this blind through the wheelarch as such a pain underneath! I popped it back after as it holds a starter snorkel clip.
Interesting the lr bulletin gets you to change the angle of the starter motor wire using an 8mm drill bit as a gauge. I think this is due to the proximity of the new pipe above it.
I followed the bulletin as it said without moving the terminal there was a risk of damage to vehicle. Did everyone else do that too? Am i right in my thinking of risk of short?

Thanks mwlr4
I had a look at them but as they were cheeper than others I found I was concerned they might be not be a good fit but as you have used them I will take it they are OK.

In that kit the pipe was in a landrover badged packet, i think genuine. The banking plug and gasket in Britpart bags.

Can it be assumed that after 2013 cars were built with the shorter pipe?

Well it stopped raining so I got back to it. All done now.
Only strange thing was the bolts securing the pipe to the turbo and the block were only finger tight I did not need a ratchet ,if they had been hex heads I could have done it with my fingers.
I only got a bit of smoke around once a month but I just wanted to tick off this mod. Faultmate MSV-2

Just done my 2012 D4 and cost from dealers which includes the oil drain plug for engine and plugs for automatic gearbox oil change that has yet to be done:-
If you have a look at the PDF in post's it is the LR document with the 3 part numbers required for oil return pipe replacement which is Pipe, Gasket and blank plate.
Biggest pain was removing the starter motor, although using 4 post lift to get access did make it easier
As per other posts can confirm it has worked a treat and no more smoke on 'kickdown'.
Don't forget to disconnect and drain the feed pipe also if you do mod as per LR document.
just woner why your part numbers are different from ridge backs?
is it the same part numbers for the 3.0 sdv6
and were is the best place to order them?
thank you so muchhad a d1 ,d2 a land mark d4 for 3 days now have awsome d4 in orkney grey hse sdv6 my12
