If we weren't supposed to eat meat why did God make animals taste so good?

Tucked up in a hotel in Central Sweden, fair few pics to post but officially knackered and off to explore the delights of the Micky Dees next door. Mr. Green Mr. Green Hopefully as I'm a bit further south I might see some darkness, 24hr day light is officially the work of the devil and sending me further round the bend. Thumbs Up

Unfortunately lights on during the day, it's mandatory.

Just tucking (well almost finished) some traditional Swedish food:

Resisting the temptation to go for a second round. Two reasons for this. Hotel stay included breakie. And SWMBO would spot it on the credit card bill in a heartbeat, have to use CC as no local folding stuff. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Trying to upload pics but the uploader just goes back to the choose files bit with nothing selected (had chosen 5). Plus uploading vids to YouTube just ends up hanging. And I have a couple of great vids of the ar$e end of some cheeky looking reindeer. Big Cry Big Cry

Right, here we go.

A few shots from Engeløya, where the big Atlantic Wall guns were placed, guns intended for two massive battleships that weren't built.

General view to the west. Enjoy the pic of the good weather, it didn't last.

The ranging emplacement on a small island, bit of wading was called for.

Here's what remains of the mounting ring for one of the 3 guns (there should have been 4 but the ship carrying the 4th gun sank).

And the firewood for that night's fire.

The weather in the Lofotons was absolutely 'orrible, with a capital '

I can't believe I thought "it'll be fine" on a 2 1/4 hr ferry crossing to Svolvaer in what I think was a F8, and I get seasick when tied up!

Few pics of essentially the weather

They chose a really good day to dry the fish!! Shocked

That's when I looked at the weather & made the executive decision to hack across to Finland then bit of a loop to North Cape to escape the weather.

Proof the weather was better in Finland

I've posted a few pics of North Cape but the food was stupidly expensive, even by Norwegain standards, so this was dinner

And a pressie for Mrs DSL

You see a lot of this view

Take the odd pic of the coffee cup, which is going to be like the life forms in Men in Black that live in the locker, it hasn't been washed in over 2 weeks.

And you see a lot of these cheeky chappies

Including these two cheeky begger. They were both well to the side, looked at each other with that "here's another tourist to toy with" look then joined each other on the road for about 1/4 mile with me following behind. They would look back and slow down if I wasn't keeping up enough! Rolling Eyes

I have reindeer vid but can't get it uploaded to YouTube, it just hangs.

On the topic of reindeer, they are a right PITA and really mess with your mind. In the best of weather they can be difficult to spot, in crap weather they are the best thing to stealth domesticated animals out there. You see a rock and convince yourself that it's not a reindeer, and that's a tree branch not antlers. It's a rock, it's deffo a rock, then it walks out in front of you. Shocked Shocked

Or you've just driven past one and not even seen it at the side of the road (verges are cleared so it's not in the trees), they are so well camouflaged with the right conditions and background. And yes I was paying attention and hadn't been on the vino, this being a holiday for my liver as well.

Catering has followed my fave maxim "minimum effort, maximum results"

Chicken Randang, Buryani rice and last of a jar of mango chutney, all washed down with ice cold coke.

And for pud it may just be a can of pears but at that time it was the best can of pears in the world in my own little bit of wilderness.

And a positively lovely sun not-quite set later on at about 11pm.
