Finances meant that I needed to postpone for a short period but, not actually having driven a D4 since 2011 (!), I thought it best to take one out for a test drive to see if it's as nice as I remember. Booked out for Saturday afternoon...
WOW! What a nice car.... Thumbs Up
Black, 15 plate, HSE Lux with Ivory to try for the afternoon. Great seats, superb ride (even on 20's), great driving position and I thought that the FL2 had a good view out, but this is only another level. Literally! Love the air suspension. Having driven lots of miles in Citroen XM's (many years ago), I don't need any convincing of the usefulness of such trick suspension.
Fuel consumption over about 70 miles was about 31mpg, which is about 2-3 less than the FL2 returned during the 172 miles that I did in it today before I used that Disco.
The gearbox changes were seamless and it was happy to pull much higher gears than the SD4 FL2.
My daughter loved the space in the back and wanted to sit in the middle seat for the best view out.
But you know all of this already
What was odd was getting back in the Freely. I still like it a lot, but it's NOT a Disco. Although it has more room around the dash, the front seats a very tight together and the room in the back is not great. The worst bit is the way that I felt I was sitting on the road! It seemed just like getting back in a normal car after the Disco.
I went to see my sales chap, but he's been tied up selling all afternoon and had to leave without speaking to him, which was a shame.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

I did warn you!!! I really tried!
The leather dash and door trims us included equipment to me
Made the lux a better deal than the HSE with what
I wanted on it.
I now have a car that is even better than a Range Rover and I bloody love it MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)
Prospeed rock/tree sliders w/steps
HSE Winter wheels
TransK9 B24
Travall Cargo Guard

We've agreed, it has to be the HSE. Just as I'd set the budget for the SE Tech!
Loved the leather dash and door tops, but will have to live without 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Sorry it's taken me a while to come back on the holiday cottage to everyone that's asked.
The cottage owners are back and I've got some computer time tomorrow to get their contact details out to you all...

@ Red Merle: That's one of the fun things about geology, you get to hammer the stuffing out of what you are studying. And if things get serious out come the chisel.
Mind you when they let me get my hands on HF, as part of a Palaeontology research project, then it got a bit scary.
I've just used my old geology hammer to swot a huge wasp with this morning Blo**y effective, I can tell you, looks like it's been hit by a RPG! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

HSE (debadged), in Firenze Red & Almond, with Privacy. And a cool box. Mrs Red Merle will love the cool box
Thanks for everyone on this thread who helped lead me astray and I look forward to carrying on as a Disco owning member of the website!
