Ref drain and refill to clean oil yes it will work, poss not as well as the flush, again if you think about it thats exactly what happens when you service the engine as you simply cannot get all the old oil out.
Changing sump to steel type design is not hard just a tag fiddly on the front and rear row of bolts, basically you can't get a ratchet onto them so have to use a cranked torx key, then snap of the filter spout with a bar, sounds bad but is easy and this was my first time with the plastic sump.
What is my auto box selector linkage pivot widget blessed are the losers ,for they determine the winners

Drivers side of the gearbox, basically a cable to a pivot on the end of the selector lever, worth a search as thats how I came across the info and lubed it whilst doing oil change on gearbox, think only rear under cover needs to come off, the one with the little m6 bolts, you might be able to see it from the back of the cover but not sure if you can reach it.
This is the one I read up on, mine wasn't seized so I didn't remove it just smothered it in grease and as grease sweats this will lube it for many a year yet.
