Am I missing something here......the tank capacity is 82 litres is it not 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
Yep, even allowing in for a litre or two in the filler pipe I'd be questioning the accuracy of some of those pumps The End

DG, I usually put between 80 & 85 ltr in, I have good / cheap petrol stations both ends of a 28 mile each way commute, so I'm never far from a gge & I like playing fuel light roulette! (earlier post somewhere)
& yes I probably do make full use of the extra capacity in the filler neck!
Greatest distance travelled on a tankfull still stands at 602 miles (range remaining - nil)
Anyone beaten that yet?Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

Dave ....the tank capacity is 82 litres as stated in the "capacities" list in the manual. Are you saying that this is incorrect?21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

the fuel tank capacity doesn't include the fuel filler neck, possibly another five litres...

I'm sure you're right, just looked on lr website, shows 82.3ltr "usable capacity" - i'd guess a few more ltrs can fit in the neck, I tend to fill to the brim!
I did once get 5ltrs more than the rated capacity into my D2, and took issue with Tesco over it, who were surprised at the complaint as they had just been checked & were ok.
Saying that, I have also known the measured volume to be well under what i'd have expected to fit in the tank so it does work both ways.
The 87.53lts was after driving the 602 miles on a tankfull - so it would heve been really empty!
If the 87.53 was really only 82 (ie gge meter inaccurate) then that would mean i'd have averaged 33mpg for 600 miles .... nah!
Perhaps one of the ex garage running members would like to share some insight into the accuracy or otherwise of fuel pumps??

81 was the most I've ever put in mine - when the range gets down to 30 miles and you're on the M4 looking for a service station you start to panic!Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
