Mine are Embarassed I think the reason they've gone with tensile steel wire is due to the routing required into the sump..... flat HC bar if inserted in the wrong plane would jam and / or not give a seal at the top of the tube.. it's also less suceptible to heat distortion and will therefore give a more reliable reading

Yes, but they could have put a flat plastic blade on the end instead of a load of balls, then again, we would not have had half the posts on this site if they had done that Wink

Check the oil level first thing today. It was on the lowest orange ball. As was suggested I then added a little at a time, and now it is on the 3rd of the 4 balls. No wind blowing this morning so made a much cleaner job.

I will keep an eye on the Oil level from now on. Done 14,000 miles and hadn't thought to check until now. Hopefully it will settle down now and not use/burn so much.

I did a survey about the colour of the dipstick balls and I think yellow and orange were favourites, what colour are yours Shocked

Im having trouble finding the SAE 5W/30 oil for my TDV6. Had a look in my local garage and all they have is SAE 5W/40 oil, what is the difference and can i use it? It meets ACEA B3 alright so if anyone can help, id be grateful.
